To the user of FCPLite1:

To access the main "menu" (a selection of exercises) of FrClozeP, access
first Netscape 3.x (or Microsoft's IE browser - version 3.2 or later) and
then open "chezmoi.htm" (the main, or start, menu) by accessing it via
Netscape's (or IE's) own top-of-screen menu...and submenu. Please NOTE that
The "chezmoi.htm" file is located in the main directory: FCPLite1. [If that
file - chezmoi.htm - is "associated" with one or the other browser, clicking
on it within its directory or as a short-cut clone (perhaps placed in your
Windows95 desktop) will load the browser and open the main menu of FCPLite1.]

Once in the homepage ("chezmoi.htm"), which will thereafter appear listed
as "Access to Exercises" on Netscape's "Go" submenu, you may proceed
immediately to select an exercise. On the other hand, you may prefer,
first, to read the HelpMe.htm file by clicking the HelpMe button once your
chosen cloze exercise appears (or even, if you so wish, before accessing
the "chezmoi.htm" menu). The HelpMe.htm file provides details about the use
of Microsoft's browser (IE) to access and navigate FrClozeP.

After completing an exercise successfully, you may wish to return to the
homepage. Using the "Back" option that appears on the mouse menu, (or on
IE's toolbar) you may quite easily return to that homepage. Let me suggest
that you read the "HelpMe.htm" file... in this respect too. Other navigational
techniques are explained in that hypertextual page.

Do consider the following suggestion for dealing with the quite challenging
cloze-type exercises that are accessed from the first or main menu
("chezmoi.htm")... But that cloze-type exercise should be attempted only
after you have completed at least some of the other types of "quizzes".

When you click the HelpMe button, appearing at the very top of the file are
two HYPERLINKS: one to a menu of short-answer quizzes, the other to a menu
of Multiple-choice quizzes. The latter is perhaps the menu whose quizzes
you would find easiest to work with. Thus you may wish to access any one of
those four "lite" exercises initially. For the MChoice menu's quizzes give
the user an opportunity to view both the French text and its English-language
equivalent: side by side. [ The English equivalent is accessed by sliding
to the bottom of the quiz's left frame or window, and then clicking on the
hyperlinked reference. ] While in the MChoice quiz, you may wish to expand
the quiz area by moving that frame's right border several inches to the right
when you are ready to click on answers. The wider view will provide more
uniformity to the formatted text or answer choices...and make it perhaps
easier to read...particularly if you are navigating in Microsoft's IE browser.

Good luck! (or... "Bonne chance!")

Thank you for exploring and evaluating FCPLite1. Any suggestion that you send
my way will be appreciated. If you encounter problems when using a given
browser (version), do let me know.

Thanks and Merci.
