Order/Registration (How To Order/Register):

Since The Computer Cookbook is SHAREWARE, NOT Freeware or
Commercial, the program distributed for demo purposes has been locked,
except for browsing, UNLESS you have already registered.

Also, remember that if you bought a Shareware disk with this
program included, you have only paid for the Shareware disk,
NOT THIS PROGRAM.

The Shareware disk people do NOT pay their shareware authors,
they merely collect the programs and re-distribute them
together for your convenience.
You are paying for their time and expense, NOT mine.

If you find The Computer Cookbook to be useful and have
NOT already done so, PLEASE Order/Register.

Paying/Registering for my program is fairly simple:
Open the "Register.exe" program that accompanies my cookbook.

Enter your name and address, your email address, and the number
of licenses that you wish to purchase. Save or Copy or Print
the data from the "Register.exe" program and send the data and
payment to KAGI.

To Order via the Internet/Web using a credit card you can open
your web browser/navigator and go to:

https://order.kagi.com/?3US (try this address first)
http://order.kagi.com/?3US (if the 1st address didn't work)

If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or
fax the data to KAGI.
Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number
is 1-(510)-652-6589.

You can either Copy the data from the "Register.exe" program
and paste into the body of an email message, or you can Save
the data to a file and attach that file to an email message.
(There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small).
If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the KAGI fax number.

Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days.
You will receive an email acknowledgement when it is processed.
Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you
provide a correct internet email address you will receive an
email acknowledgement.

If you are paying with Cash or a Check (drawn in US Dollars)
you should print the data using the "Register.exe" program and
send it to the address shown on the form, which is:

          Kagi
          1442-A Walnut Street #392-3US
          Berkeley, California 94709-1405
          USA

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries
but at present if you pay via check, it MUST be a check drawn in
US Dollars.

Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies (non-US Dollars),
the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check
and that is just not practical.

If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data
into the "Register.exe" program and then select Invoice as your
payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your
accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that
mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment.

Kagi cannot invoice your company. You need to act on my behalf and
generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.

Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Cash,
Check or Invoice as the payment method. As far as we know,
there is still no technology to transfer physical
objects via fax or email and without the payment,
the form cannot be processed.
Payments send via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then
up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct
email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.

Display Setting:

The Computer Cookbook looks best if you set your
Display Settings to 800 x 600 or
640 x 480. It will also work at 1024 x 768, but the text will be small.

How it came to be:

This Cookbook layout came about as a result of my mom.
Everybody kept asking my mother for her recipes, but, of course,
they were scattered everywhere. My mother asked me if she could
enter them into her computer, thus allowing her to have them at
her disposal and not having to re-write them for everyone.
Our first attempt was in Microsoft Word. That lasted about a month.

We bought MANY different layouts and programs. After entering lots
of recipes and hassling with trying to convert her recipe measurements
to decimals for the programs, we still could not find ONE program
or layout that did everything that she desired.
She would say, "Can you make this one do this?
Can you make this one do that?
I like this, but I don't like that." Then I started learning how
to design layouts in Filemaker and then in FileMaker Pro. With
FileMaker Pro's ability to link scripts to buttons I had finally
found the solution.
I would design a layout with her likes and dislikes in mind, and thus
The Computer Cookbook was born.

=============================================================

What's The Big Deal:

The BIG DEAL about this program is that you can enter your recipes
into the Cookbook the way they were meant to be entered, AS FRACTIONS !
You can enter 2 2/3 cups AS 2 2/3 cups, NOT as 2.67 cups as
MOST other programs make you do!

My Program Will ALSO RE-SIZE a recipe for you. If you want to
use the Re-Sizing feature,
then you MUST put SOME unit of measurement in the field
between the amounts and the ingredients. You may choose from
my list or type your own, but put SOMETHING in the field.

Also make sure that you add a space between the Whole Number
and the Fraction, so that the program will know that there is
a fraction there.
Do not use measures like "2-4" or "2 to 4", instead put "3".
If the recipe makes "2-3 servings" then enter "2 1/2 servings"
instead. For your own sake, Try NOT to use all CAPS when entering
information. Doing so will limit the amount of room you have
available. Also try to use any abbreviations you know if you are
running out of typing space (i.e., "&" instead of "and").

With each version, I have added recipes and/or added/changed
scripts and features based on my mothers' input, as well as
input from Registered Users. It is through comments and suggestions
that this layout continues to improve. Please feel free to send
in your comments, suggestions and recipes.
Together you and I can make this a better layout.

=============================================================

Protection:

My demo version of The Computer Cookbook is password protected
and as such, has most Features, except viewing, locked.
When you Register, we will send you a disk with the latest
version of The Computer Cookbook on it.
If you do not have an email address, please enter your complete
postal address and please remember, we do not know what country
you live in so please enter that into the postal address also.

=============================================================

Last Plea:

If you decide that you like this Cookbook, PLEASE register
your copy.
I worked a LONG time with MANY sleepless night trying to perfect
this Layout.
My wife became a "Computer Widow" while I worked on this Layout.
I ran up my long distance bills with my mother trying to perfect
this Layout. But, I did it all for my MOM. Get the Idea?
Registration is not a lot of money and it does help to give me
motivation to continue to improve this Layout as well as to design
others. My motto is "What goes around comes around". Besides you
will sleep better at night knowing you did the RIGHT thing!
You'll also have access to our family recipes as well as future upgrades.

My special thanks go to Paul "Scanman" Royer.
He contributed GREATLY to The Computer Cookbook.
Paul wrote most of the coding for the recipe re-sizing and the
fractional ability and graciously allowed me to use them in my cookbook.
Thanks Paul!

Now sit back and enjoy, THE COMPUTER COOKBOOK.
And Remember, PLEASE Order/Register !!!!!!
