Thank you for trying E-Clean!

Overview
========

This handy utility will help you remove forwarding characters from the e-mail you receive. Simply paste in a section of e-mail you would like to clean up and press the "Clean E-Mail" button on the toolbar. E-Clean will turn text that looks like this:

>>> >This is a sample
>>> >of what E-Clean can do for you.
>>> >
>>> >This text can be difficult to read
>>> >when you get it in an e-mail.

Into this:

This is a sample of what "E-Clean" can do for you.

This text can be difficult to read when you get it in an e-mail.

Try out E-Clean on the sample.txt file included with this evaluation version of the software.

E-Cleans Features:
==================

Removes e-mail forwarding characters
------------------------------------
Most e-mail readers add forwarding characters to each line when you forward e-mail to someone. Some e-mail readers add spaces, tabs or ">" characters. In the sample above, the following characters precede each line:

>>> >

E-Clean removes these characters for the beginning of each line.

Reconstructs paragraphs
-----------------------
Many times e-mails are broken up into separate lines of text to be transmitted. This feature combined with the forwarding characters can make a forwarded e-mail almost illegible! E-Clean reconstructs the original paragraphs by assuming a blank line separates each paragraph in the text. In the example above, the e-mail has five lines. Lines 1 and 2 are reconstructed to form the first paragraph. Line 3 is a "blank" line that separates the 2 paragraphs. Lines 4 and 5 are reconstructed to form the second paragraph.

Replaces "Curly Quotes"
-----------------------
Some e-mail packages use the fancier curly quotation marks instead of the standard ones. Unfortunately, these quotation marks are not always legible because the font you are currently using does not display them as quotes. In the sample above, the word "E-Clean" was surrounded by curly quotes. E-Clean replaces the curly quotes with the standard straight quotes.
