This is the Talking Clock Deluxe instruction file.
Make sure that you have `word wrap` turned on before continuing.

If you have any problems with Talking Clock Deluxe, then please read the PROBLEMS.txt file first and then please use the contact information contained at the bottom of this help file to contact me.

How to:

Change from and to SIMPLE MODE: If you don`t want all of the clocks options showing, then you need to be in simple mode (This is the default mode when you install the clock). You can change between modes by RIGHT clicking on the clock or the Task bar icon. Choose `Main Options` and then click on the Misc tab. Near the bottom of this screen, you will see some text saying `YOU ARE IN SIMPLE MODE, CLICK HERE ---> CLICK <---- TO CHANGE`. Just click the text to change modes.
NOTE *** SOME OF THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS NEED ADVANCED MODE SELECTED TO WORK ***

Make the clock SPEAK THE TIME: You can either double click on the clock or on the icon in the Task bar.

Make the characters repeat what I type: Right click the clock and select Main Options. Now select the `Type and Speak` tab. Enter your text into the main window and then click on `CLICK HERE TO SPEAK`

Change the alarm settings (alarm 1 or 2): To change the alarm settings, Right click on the clock and select `Main Options`. Now select either Alarm 1 settings or Alarm 2 settings (depending on which alarm you are altering). To enter a new alarm time, type your new alarm hour in the first text box and your alarm minute in the second text box (both next to the `Alarm set for` text. Click on SET to make it permanent.
To change the LAUNCH program, click on Change and then navigate to the .exe file that you want to run. If you want to clear this setting, then click on CHANGE and then click on CANCEL.
If you want to change the custom message, which is spoken upon the alarm time being reached, just enter your new message in the text box at the bottom of the window.

HIDE AND SHOW THE CLOCK: To hide the clock, Right click on the clock and select `Clock options` and then choose `Hide the clock` OR Right click on the Task Bar icon and select HIDE.
To show the clock, Right click on the Task Bar Icon and select SHOW.
NOTE* if you hide the clock and then re-boot the computer, the clock will still be hidden when you re boot. You must select SHOW to show the clock again.

Change the characters: If you want to change the characters, then Right click on the clock and then select `Main Options`. Now click on the Characters tab.
To change character 1, click on CHANGE next to the characters name. To change character 2, click on CHANGE next to the characters name.
You can also hide the characters after they have talked and performed. Just click on Hide after talking, which is also in the same section.

Change the announce period: Right click on the clock and then select `Main Options`. Now click on the Characters tab. At the bottom of this tab, you will see Announce the time every ? minutes. Just click on the arrow in the text box to select an announce time, or you can type in any number between 1 and 60

Make the characters `Whisper` during certain times of the day: Right click on the clock and select `Main Options`, then select the characters tab. Where it says The clock will whisper between 00 and 00. Just enter the HOUR which it should whisper from in the first box (24 hour format only!) and the hour that it should stop whispering in the second box. Test it out, you will be impressed.

Change the colours of the clock: You can alter the text colour and the background colour by Right clicking on the Clock and selecting `Main Options`. Now click on the Misc tab. In here you should see the current clock colours along with two buttons called Change. Just click on the relevant button, depending on which colour you want to alter, then select the new colour from the dialog that appears and click OK.

Start talking clock every time windows starts: Right click on the clock, then select `Main Options`. Now select the Misc tab and put a put a check (tick) in the box where it says `Start Talking Clock Deluxe with Windows`. This will enable it to start with Windows

Change the start-up message (announced by character 2): Right click on the clock and select `Main Options`. Now select the Misc tab. You will see just under where it says `Start Talking Clock Deluxe with windows`, there is a text box for the `Startup Message`. Enter your new message in here, whatever you like.

Make the clock say what I type: Right click on the clock then select `Main Options`. Now select the Type and speak tab. You will see a big window, enter the text you want the characters to repeat in here. Now choose the character you want to use in the bottom left drop down box and the click on CLICK HERE TO SPEAK. It's as easy as that.

Make the characters come back to the clock: To make the characters return to the clock, Right click the clock and select `Characters`. Now click on `Summon the characters to the clock` and the characters should come.

Find out which version you have: Right click on the clock and select `About talking clock`. You will see the about box appear with various information in it. You can also hold the mouse over the icon in the Task Bar.

Close talking clock: To shut down Talking Clock Deluxe, Right click on the clock and select EXIT, alternatively, you can RIGHT click on either character and click EXIT or right click on the task bar icon and select EXIT.
