GETTING A LICENSE FOR PLM2C

Install PLM2C in a chosen directory in your computer. Run "PLM2C -L License" and
choose "Authorize" in the menu. PLM2C will display a "Site code" which you need
to copy and send by email or fax to ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS (email: imahalal@kagi.com).
When you receive the activation code for your license, you need to run again
"PLM2C -L License". Choose "Authorize" in the menu and enter the activation code.

Important note: You should not change the installation directory of PLM2C after you
sent your site code. You will be able to do that after you receive the returned code
that activate your license.

If you are using the "Register" program (see the directory "Register") for registering
PLM2C, you can provide your site code in the registration form. KAGI will forward
this code to ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS and you will get your activation code in
return.

MOVING PLM2C TO ANOTHER DIRECTORY OR ANOTHER COMPUTER

The license transfer system is an optional feature that will allow you to transfer your
license from one computer to another, or from one directory to another. There are
two methods provided for moving a PLM2C license:

1. Direct Transfer - Used to move a license from one local directory to another.
2. Floppy Transfer - Used to move a license from one computer to another. In this
case the move is done using any floppy disk.

These two methods do not actually copy PLM2C from one directory to the other.
What they do is move the license from one PLM2C installation to a copy of PLM2C
in a different directory.

1. DIRECT LICENSE TRANSFERS

OVERVIEW: The DirectTransfer operation must be run from PLM2C with a valid
license (the 'source' program) and it must be given a directory path to an existing
copy of PLM2C that does not have a valid license (the 'target' program).

[1.1] The function will simply transfer one license from the source directory to
the target directory locally on the same computer.
The target directory must be local (i.e., on a drive located in the same computer) to
the source directory.

EXAMPLE: You have PLM2C with one valid fixed license in C:\TEMP and you
want to move it to C:\APPS\BINGO. To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Copy the PLM2C directory to C:\APPS\BINGO.
2. Run "PLM2C -L License" in C:\TEMP and choose DirectTransfer in the menu.
Provide it the pathname of "C:\APPS\BINGO". Instantly the copy in
C:\APPS\BINGO has a valid license and the copy in C:\TEMP does not.

[1.2] FLOPPY DISK LICENSE TRANSFERS

OVERVIEW: This process involves transferring the special license files and is
handled entirely by the PLM2C licensing software.

[2.1] To transfer a license from one computer to another, you must have a copy
of PLM2C already installed and authorized on one computer and a copy of
PLM2C already installed but not authorized on another computer.
The process is as follows:

1. Run "PLM2C -L License" in the target computer and register the transfer by
choosing Register Site in the menu. The user must supply the path to the floppy
disk. This function will put a registration imprint file on the floppy disk. Take
the floppy disk out of the target computer and place it in the source computer.
2. Run "PLM2C -L License" on the source computer and choose TransferOut in the
menu. The user must supply the path to the floppy disk. This function will read
the registration imprint file and write a matching license imprint file to the floppy.
It will also discontinue the license at the source. Take the floppy disk out of the
source computer and return it to the target computer.
3. Run "PLM2C -L License" in the target computer and choose TransferIn in the
menu. The user must supply the path to the floppy disk. This will complete the
transfer and discard the intermediate 'imprint' files.
