Appendix D. Format of Configuration Information

Update Configurator saves its configuration information in an attachment to the registry, a socalled registry hive. The hive is saved to the file UPDCFG located in the configuration directory. When Update Configurator starts it attaches this hive to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Update Configurator and if this is the first instance of Update Configurator ont the network that attaches the hive, it will stay attached as long as Update Configurator is running. If this is the case it can be inspected using ordinary registry tools such as REGEDIT.

This document describes the format of the various subkeys of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Update Configurator. These are all created and accessed by Update Configurator but some of them can also be changed "by hand".

In the remainder of this appendix, all keynames are specified relative to the top level key. Thus a keyname of Archives refer to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Update Configurator\Archives.

Top level key

This section will describe the contents of the toplevel key of the registry hive (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Update Configurator).
