REQUIREMENTS:

There are three requirements for using Caller ID Plus:

1. Must have IBM compatible PC that runs Windows 95 or 98. Will not
work on Windows 3.1. Must also have the VB5 runtime library
installed BEFORE installing Caller ID Plus. The VB5 runtime library
can be downloaded at:

 http://www.showme.net/~johnprob/

 or

 ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/vb5rtsp3.zip

2. Must have a Caller ID modem. Most of the newer modems are Caller
ID compatible even though they don't say sometimes. To find out if
your modem is Caller ID compatible just run the Caller ID program. It
will tell you if it can't find a Caller ID modem. If the program tells
you that you that a Caller ID modem is not detected, try running the
MANUAL SETUP program included with Caller ID Plus before giving up.

3. Must have the Caller ID service activated by your phone company.
Caller ID may not be available in some areas; just call your local
phone company to find out.

The program has been tested and worked successfully on the following
modems: US Robotics Sportster Voice Mail, Packard Bell Voice Modem,
SupraFax 14.4 with Caller ID chip.

INSTALLATION:

Press the BROWSE button and locate the Caller ID Plus files. Select

in the RUN dialogue box to start the installation. After installation
you can start the program by locating it under the START button.

DESCRIPTION:

We designed this program to be similar to a real Caller ID box to boost
familiarity and ease of use. Also, we wanted the program to be simple
and as easy to use as possible. When starting the program, it
automatically searches for a COM port and for a Caller ID modem, so
there is usually no need to set up your modem. A MANUAL SETUP program
is included just in case the AUTO SETUP does not work for your
particular modem. Another great feature is the ability to attach .wav
files to any displayed number so that you can hear who is calling and
you don't have to run to your computer to find out. It also may be
handy (and also will impress your futuristic friends) if you place
remote speakers in various rooms of your house so that magically when
someone calls you hear a voice or music telling you who is calling.
You can also attach .jpg, .gif or .bmp image files to a phone number
and the computer will display that image when that person calls. The
images will pile up on your screen until you close them, so when you
return to your computer you can visualize the people who have called.

HOW TO USE:

Press the "?" button on the main screen to get help on how to use the
program. The preferences options are also located on this screen.

Press the button that looks like a light bulb to associate a .wav audio
file or .jpg, .gif, or .bmp image file with the currently displayed
number. Just pick the file from the file directory which appears.

To learn how to create a new .wav file so you can personalize your
Caller ID, click the HELP area under the Windows 95 or 98 start button.
Look up "AUDIO / RECORDING". When you save your new recording, place
it in the Caller ID Plus directory so you can find it easier later.
You can use your digital camara or scanner to create any image file you
desire.

HOW TO REMOVE CALLER ID PLUS FROM WINDOWS START-UP:

When installing the program you are given the option to add Caller ID
Plus to your Windows Start-Up so the program will automatically start
when Windows is started. If you wish to remove the program from Windows
Start-Up, press the START button, then select SETTINGS from the
resulting menu, then select TASKBAR from the resulting menu, then select
START MENU PROGRAMS at the top of the window, then press the REMOVE
button, then scroll down the list until you see STARTUP, then double
click on the little STARTUP icon. The Caller ID Plus.exe icon should
then appear. Single click on the little Caller ID Plus icon, then press
the REMOVE button. The little Caller ID Plus icon should then disappear
indicating that the program has been removed from the Start-up.

HOW TO REGISTER:

Caller ID Plus is SHAREWARE.

The un-registered version of Caller ID Plus will function with all
features for 30 days. After 30 days the program will still function
with limited features. The un-registered version is FREELY
DISTRIBUTABLE. After the program is registered and the registration
code is entered, the program is no longer freely distributable and
must not be copied or distributed to other users.

To register your personal version of Caller ID Plus simply press the
"Registration Form" button located on the Help screen. You can print
a registration form or copy down the requested information and mail to
the address provided. The cost of registration is only $14.95. A
registration code, which will remove the 30 day limitation, will be
sent to you as soon as your form is received. Normally the
registration code will be sent by E-Mail, or Fax within 24 hours of
receiving the registration fee unless there are unforseen
surcomstances, then the code will be sent ASAP. If you do not have
E-Mail or Fax access, the code will be sent by U.S. Mail.
