**INSTALLATION AND REQUIRED FILES**

Required files:
Microsoft VB4 runtime files. This self-installing package
can be found at the FlashScreens Home Page at
http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Union/1904/stuff.html

Send any questions or comments to be81756@binghamton.edu

To Install, run the Setup.exe program. If you are upgrading from a
previous version make sure to specify the same folder on your hard drive
as the previous version when prompted during the Setup process.

**OVERVIEW**

FlashScreens is a "virtual screens" manager. The program allows you to
have a slew of programs open at one time without cluttering up your
desktop or the taskbar. You can specify a screen for your word processing
tasks, programming tasks, internet browsing, so on and so forth. Whatever
window is opened in the current screen will disappear when you switch to
another screen. Unlike in other virtual screens programs, the window
disappears from the taskbar also! You can move windows from screen to
screen, copy windows to other screens, and specify which windows will
traverse all the screens. Furthermore, each screen has its own
"QuickStart" toolbar, a handy alternative to the Start Menu where you can
create shortcuts to your programs and launch multiple programs and
documents with a single click. The small QuickAccess buttons provide
shortcuts to commonly used functions such as starting the screen saver or
clipboard viewer or temporarily hiding all open windows so you can get at
the desktop quickly and easily. Plus much more.

**Known Bugs**

If the user changes the color of Windows 95's screen elements
while FlashScreens is running, the icons on the QuickStart
toolbar will not reflect any changes made to the background.
Workaraound: after changing the colors add a button (then
delete it) to the QuickStart toolbar to refresh the icons.

When switching screens some applications may hold up FlashScreens.
Hiding or displaying a window is contingent on that window's
responsiveness and if a particular window is busy doing something
else FlashScreens will not be able to continue until that Window
responds by hiding or displaying itself. This is a property of
Windows 95 itself and not FlashScreens.
