CARDCHECK V1.0 INFORMATION

CardCheck is an application for Windows 95/98/NT that verifies credit card numbers to ensure they are genuine.

CardCheck supports:
Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Novus cards.

It performs two functions:

1. It checks the number of digits.

Credit cards can have either 13, 15 or 16 digits. CardCheck ensures the right amount of numbers have been supplied for that card type.

2. It checks the validity of the numbers.

All credit cards contain a checksum, which is used to ensure the numbers in the credit card are correct. CardCheck calculates the appropriate checksum for the number and compares the two to ensure the supplied number has valid number structure.

NOTE: CardCheck is NOT foolproof. However it will detect an erroneous card number in more than 90% of cases. CardCheck also only checks the credit card number, it does not check whether it is assigned to the person who has used it.
