1. The purpose of the program.

PaperBase+ is a complete newsagent's delivery and billing package for
PCs and is used by many U.K. newsagents. It is an easy-to-use, time-
saving and cost-effective package with:

PaperBase+ has been developed using Windows and Microsoft technology.  Once supplier, publication, road and round data has been keyed in customer entries and orders can be easily generated from drop down lists.  All input data can be previewed on the screen or printed.  PaperBase+ is a powerful package that: -

- Generates saves, delivery and stacking lists for morning, evening and Sunday rounds.
- Produces customer itemised weekly or detailed monthly bills with accumulated debt total.
- Updates customer accounts very quickly with manual bill change, if required.
- Accepts stop/start entries and amend round reports, stacking lists and bills accordingly.
- Caters for dailys, weeklys and all types of magazines, even one-offs.
- Accepts 'save at shop' option and continue deliveries through stop/start periods.
- Allows on-screen round changes and allows instant price updating of publications.
- Records delivery substitutions/comments and stores name of default evening paper.
- Displays and records customer payments as well as accepting bulk payments.
- Produces supplier requirements lists and round bills summary reports
- Produces daily and weekly sales/deliveries and delivery charge income reports.
- Can be used for any regular delivery operation, for example milk rounds, etc.
- PaperBase+ newsagents data accessible by Micosoft Office 97 products.

2. Installation instructions.

PaperBase+ v1.2 Demonstration disc set.

The file 'pap3flat.zip' contains a version of PaperBase+ v.1.2.
Unzip the file to a convenient directory, say 'c:\temp'.
See instructions below to install.

The demonstration PaperBase+ contains all of the facilities
available in the full package. It also contains a fictional data
set of 20 roads and 260 houses with accompanying orders.
It also contains data on 3 suppliers and the most common publications
sold in newsagents. You can add, amend and delete all of this data.
This is a 60 day evaluation version of PaperBase+ and on starting
you will be reminded of the evaluation period. Also the newsagent's
name is a general one that is customised to newsagents details when
the full version is purchased.

PaperBase requires a 486 or Pentium PC with hard disc, mouse, printer
and, ideally, at least 8Mb RAM. It requires at 7Mb of hard disc space.
This set of discs is guaranteed virus-free.

Installing PaperBase+

PaperBase can be installed onto the Windows 95/NT operating systems
(not Windows v3.1) :- 

In Windows 95 choose Run from the Task bar. 

Key in the command c:\temp\setup and the PaperBase Setup program
will start. You must accept all default directory options for
PaperBase+ will not work correctly if other options are chosen.
he Setup program also prompts you for the other discs to be inserted
in turn. 

The Setup program will create a Windows group with the PaperBase+
Demonstration name containing a program item called PaperBase+.
This will be displayed when the Setup program is complete. 

Installing PaperBase in Windows 95 involves a black DOS window
which has to be closed by clicking on the X in the top right
hand corner. 

Starting PaperBase+ 

In Windows 95 choose Programs/PaperBase+ Demonstration/PaperBase+
from the Task Bar.  For faster startup you may want to copy this
icon (click on the icon using the right mouse button and choose
'Copy') onto the Windows desktop (click on the desktop with
right mouse button and choose 'Paste').

As with the full version of PaperBase there is user security.
When loading PaperBase+ a screen is presented asking for user
name and password. For the demonstration version only the user
name is guest and there is no password.

Newsagency details
------------------
The evaluation copy is supplied with a general newsagency details.  The full version
is customised with customer newsagency details.
A Newsagent's name and address details cannot be changed.  This is to avoid newsagents
passing PaperBase source discs to other newsagents and installing a second version at
another shop.
PaperBase+ is sold as a single installation and if needed for another shop then another
copy needs to be purchased.  A second copy could sold at a discount if the original copy is 
under a support agreement. Please contact ABS support.
