DataLinkX Control,
High performance data exchange between multiple VB 5.0 applications.

The DataLinkX is a powerful control that enables data exchange
between your Visual Basic 5.0 applications. No need to write
complex DCOM servers, no need to limit your data types, no
need to worry about single machine or distributed environment.
Your application can utilize our DataLinkX Control's simple
ActiveX API to implement a client/server system in a matter of
minutes. Simple or complex data can be exchanged between
applications running on the same computer or across the network
running on different machines. The control supports peer-to-peer
as well as broadcasting connections allowing you to develop any
combination of distributed multi-user systems using
Visual Basic 5.0

DataLinkX Control lets you create powerful client/server
applications the easy way.

Try our example application:
a simple text based chat application with a shared drawing
board for multi-users and experience the endless possibilities !

The example application is located under the \Program Files\DLinkX\Example directory.

STEP #1 : HOW TO START WORKING WITH THE DataLinkX IN VISUAL BASIC 5.

1. Select the Project\Components menu item to open the VB
    components dialog.

2. Look for a component named "RPI DataLinkX Control" and check it.
3. Two new control will be added to the component toolbox.
The DataLinkX Client and the DataLinkX Handler.

STEP #2 : HOW TO WRITE APPLICATIONS THAT EXCHANGE DATA.

1. Take a look at our example application located in the
   \Program Files\DLinkX\Example directory. This application
demonstrates how different applications can exchange data.

2. Compile the example app. and run two instances of the executable.
You will see that everything you do on one instance is
   automatically reflected on the other.

3. In order to run the example application on seperate machines you
need to enter the name of the machine where the DataLinkX server
is located (DLinkX.EXE). The name is a UNC name (e.g. \\Server)
or the IP address of the server machine. Try it.

4. In order to move a client to another machine you will need install
the DataLinkX software on the other machine (Run the self
   extracting file DLink.EXE).
