
   INSTALLING ASTROSCAN V1.5                3/7/1998

   Astroscan is intended to be used with Windows 95. 

   Astroscan installs automatically with the built-in
   setup wizard. The user has the option of making a
   copy of the Astroscan icon by dragging it from
   the folder to the desktop.

   Astroscan can be installed in Windows 3.1 but
   the user will need to exit the program in order
   to print chartwheels. The applet WinGif must be
   run from the ascan15 folder/directory, and the
   wheel.gif (or pcx) file must be loaded by the
   user from File in WinGIf. 

   The main start-up executive file that runs Astroscan
   is  ASCAN15.EXE

   Astroscan should be installed in a directory/folder
   named ASCAN15 on path C:\ for best results. 




   INSTALLING IN WINDOWS 95

   After unzipping ASCAN-15.ZIP the following 3 files
   should be extracted:

   1. ASCAN-15.EXE
   2. FILE_ID.DIZ
   3. ASCAN15.TXT
   4. INSTALL.TXT

   Use Run in the START menu of the Windows 95 Desktop
   and browse over to the folder where these files
   reside.

   1. Read text files 3 and 4.

   2. Select ASCAN-15.EXE and run it.
      This will start the setup wizard and extract all
      the Astroscan files into the \ASCAN15 folder. 

   3. When done, double-click on the ASCAN15 icon
      to start Astroscan.

   !!!  VERY IMPORTANT  !!!

   Always, exit Astroscan with "Exit" in the Main menu or
   with the hot key "Q" in View All mode, otherwise
   all configurations during the session will be lost.




   CREATING AN ASTROSCAN ICON ON THE DESKTOP:

   Over the background of the Windows 95 Desktop,
   click the right mouse button, select "New",
   select "Shortcut", select Browse, double-click
   on folder ASCAN15, double-click on ASCAN15.
   Select "Change Icon" under "Program" Tab in the
   Properties section, browse to C:\ASCAN15 and
   select ASCAN15.ICO.

   ...in Windows 3.1...

   Select NEW in FILE of MENU in the Program Manager.
   Create a group for Astroscan.

   Create an item using NEW ITEM. Type in the name
   "Ascan15" and the fill in the properties:
   Command path as C:\ASCAN15\ASCAN15.EXE, and the
   working directory path as C:\ASCAN15.

   Change the icon with browse and select ASCAN15.ICO
   in C:\ASCAN15.
