Get2Edit v1.1 Shareware.

Get2Edit removes html formatting from web pages and saves
only the link and the associated text. It removes image
links, anchors and frame links. The output is formatted with a
pipe symbol separating the link and the associated text for easy
importing into a database.

-------Opening URLs---------
Type the URL into the URL window and click on "Get URL"
The source of the web page at the URL is placed into the text area for
processing or editing.

-------Opening Files--------
1. Click File, "open file(s)" in the menu.
Then select the files you want by holding down the control
key and selecting the files you want by clicking on them. Or, you can
click in the file selection window and then press Ctrl-A to select all
files in the directory. You can open as many files as you want this way.
The time it takes to load the files will be related to the number and
size of the files. They will be concatenated (appended) together into
one large file for processing.

Another way to open files:

2. You can use windows explorer to navigate to where your html files are,
then right click on any number of selected files (you select them the
same way as described above) and click the "send to" option.
For this to work, you'll need to add a shortcut to get2edit to your
C:\ windows\sendto\ directory.
The advantage to this is that you don't have to start the program first.
The limitation is that the path and command line must not exceed the
limit imposed by DOS (yes DOS) of 256 characters, since the filenames
are passed to the program on the command line. This usually limits
you to around 10 files.

-------Processing-----------
Processing is done in 3 levels for the sake of flexibility.
The processing must be done in numbered order for it to work properly.

1. removes formatting and inserts the pipe | symbol.
2. removes links with no associated text.
3. removes the <a href=" and the "> plus a few other things from the link.

-------Abort--------
The Abort button or menu option aborts the Get URL command. This is useful
if you try to retrieve a site that doesn't exist or if the server isn't
available and you don't want to wait for the process to time out.

-------Saving Files--------
Clicking File, Save allows you to save the file as either a plain text, HTML
file, or as a RTF file. The RTF format is a Rich Text Format that allows you to
save special formatting like fonts, font sizes and colors. The file would then look
the same way if it was opened in any program that could open RTF files.
Microsoft Word and Wordpad can open RTF files.

-------Other Commands and Options--------
Most of the other commands are self explanatory.

-------Limitations---------

HTML is an evolving language, and there may be some instances where the
output of the program is less than perfect. In these cases, the program is
equipped with full text editing capabilites, which allow the user to manually
remove lines that are not properly processed.
