				2 = CLEANMENU IS FREEWARE!
=======================================================================
That's right, I decided to allow this utility to be distributed as FREEWARE. What does it mean
for you? First of all it means that you may use this program for as long as you like and completely free of charge. Great news!
It also means that a free to distribute CleanMenu anywhere you want! You may copy this program to
your friend, upload to software archives on Internet, to bulletin boards, or whatever. . .

You may NOT, however, charge any money for this program. Thus you may NOT include this file on shareware CD-ROMs, magazine cover discs, etc. without asking my permission first. In fact if you had to pay something for getting a copy of CleanMenu, then you have most likely been ripped off,
and so have been I!

You must also understand that this utility is not Public Domain; therefore I do not intend to release its source code. That's why you may NOT decompile or debub this program, or apply any other method of reverse-engineering to the program's executable code.

				3 = SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
=======================================================================
Err...
Windows95 would be good for a start!
Apart from this, CleanMenu does not have any other system requirements

				4 = OVERVIEW OF FEATURES
=======================================================================
Let's face it: Win95 "Add/Remove programs..." dialog box is definitely NOT the smartest uninstaller in the world! The idea behind it is good enough: once you decide to get rid of a particular program you open this dialog box, scroll through the list of all "candidates" and select the one you've seen enough of. You then click the Add/Remove button and wave the program "farewell".

Well, this is how it's supposed to function in theory, but does it do so in the Real World of PC users? NO! The key problem is that the list tends to fill up quickly with invalid entries marking software that was either improperly uninstalled, or for some reason decided NOT to remove itself from this list. As time passes by, it becomes more and more difficult for the user to differentiate between the Installed software and pieces of Uninstalled software left behind.
I know of many PC users who have unwillingly turned this apparently useful feature into some sort of a "history file" keeping track of all software that was ONCE used on that particular machine !

CleanMenu comes as a complete substitution for the standard "Add/Remove programs..." dialog box. This utility inherits its look and functionality, but in addition to the familiar Add/Remove button, this utility provides two more functions:
"Delete the selected entry" will remove the currently selected entry from the list, without performing uninstallation of any kind. You should use this button to remove those invalid and left-behind entries from the list (Warning message will be issued if you attempt to delete a fully-functional entry.
"Clean List" will scan through the list and remove all invalid entries automatically. You should be careful while using this feature, since in some cases CleanMenu will NOT be able to determine the valid/invalid status of some entries correctly. To prevent CleanMenu from accidentally deleting completely valid entries, I included the "ask for confirmation" check box, which, if checked, will make the user responsible for deciding whether each particular "bad" entry should be deleted.

You will also notice that the icon of each entry in the list is color-coded according to its valid/invalid status. Fully-functional entries will have the regular grey icon, while those entries which CleanMenu considers to be invalid are represented by red icons.

When you finish working with CleanMenu, you should click the "Close" button to close the dialog box and remove the utility from memory. All changes you make to the uninstall list will be stored in the Windows Registry.

I suggest you put a shortcut to this utility on your Win95 Desktop, top level of the Start Menu, or some other place where you can reach with minimum effort.

WARNING: This utility is designed solely for Win95 and has not been tested on other platforms (Windows NT)

				5 = HOW TO CONTACT THE AUTHOR
=======================================================================
My name is Andrey Ermolinskiy, I am 16 years old. My primary interest lies in Computer Science, and I am planning to pursue a degree in this field when I go to USA to study in the University in Fall '98.

Even though CleanMenu is freeware, it doesn't cancel the fact that I've spent lots of time on designing, coding, debugging and then testing this utility. That's why, I would like to hear YOUR opinion on the result of my work! I would highly appreciate some comments and suggestions from you. You can drop me a line even if you don't have anything significant to say and just tell me whether you liked this program or not.

And if you DID like this program, you should definitely check out a couple more of my creations:

-BillSaver: my most successful program to date. It's a nice utility for Internet-addicts ;-} it runs silently in your system tray and keeps track of the time you spend on-line, calculating its cost and even predicting the size of your telephone bill you will have to foot at the end of the
month. BillSaver gives you customized warning messages whenever you tend to stay on-line for more
time than you can afford.

-HTML Power Editor (Win 3.1 only): a really, really, really cool HTML editor. Without making any exaggerations, I will say that it supports more HTML tags and 'advanced' attributes than most of
the editors I have seen (including MS FrontPage). You insert various HTML objects by stepping
through a list of dialog boxes, each of them capable of altering specific attributes of that HTML object.

All of these programs are available on many major Internet software archives (such as DOWNLOAD.COM)
