PicUView - Browser Readme file
--------------------------

Thank you for trying out this picture browser.

This viewer allows the user to categorise their pictures and then
browse the various categories.

All the user needs to do is edit a simple (and I stress SIMPLE) .ini file.
"picuview.ini"

Editing the file is easy :

!Abstract <- The first line is the title that will appear
@c:\pictures\abstract\ <- The second line is the path to the directory

The title can be as long as will fit in the box within the browser. (approx 27 characters)
The path is relative to whatever directory you are launching the browser
from. You must keep the ! and @ before the title and the path respectively.
Do not leave a space between the symbol and the variable i.e.

!My Title
   not
! My Title

If you wish for the browser to search a root directory leave the trailing backslash
absent i.e.

to browse your root directory of your drive named "D" you would type :

!Browse "D" Drive <- This title will appear in browser
@d:                   <- Notice no trailing "\"

Error messages and browser crashes can result from improper picuview.ini file settings.

The browser is only able to handle BMP's, GIF's and JPG's in it's current revision, though if it
proves popular to do so, I may add alternate file support in the future. Personally
most of my pictures are in these three formats so it suits me.

I hope that you find this browser useful, I have released it as freeware because I believe
there is a serious lack of new programs in the freeware domain. I acknowledge that good
programs need support and that this is why there is a glut of shareware with cripples / nags
but if a program is good enough, a crack will appear in due time.

I welcome your comments on this browser to me at Sy_Man_Uk@Hotmail.Com
and if you use this program lots then please send me feedback.

The files Vb40032.dll and comctl32.ocx which are supplied in the "PUV_WVB4.ZIP"
as vb4files.exe a self extractor. These files are copyright of Microsoft and need to
be extracted to your Windows\System directory in order for the browser to work.
