Cheesy Little Formatter V1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This program is a series of bat files.. and there for I consider it
freeware.  In simpler terms.. you are free to use it as long as you
wish on as many systems as you wish at no cost to you. You may
distribute it freely.
Disclaimer
~~~~~~~~~~
By using/installing this program you understand that it is freeware
and I the author cannot be held responsible for any problems/damage
that might occur. I have tested this progam on Windows 95 and found
it to be bug free..

WARNING!
~~~~~~~~
  Unless you have a firm understanding of Microsoft's DOS Version 7,
and the batch programming language I suggest that you do not alter
the *.bat or *.pif files.  You could cause harm to your existing files.
Installing the programs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Simply unzip all of the files into a directory, then run the
install.pif. After you have exited the install program, you should have
4 files left install.pif, put-er.bat, file_id.diz and this readme.txt
file. You can delete all of them. That's it... just enjoy..

What do the programs do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The 1.44 file will format 1.44 meg floppies in A:\ Drive only!!
The 720 file will format 720kb or Low Density floppies in A:\ Drive only!!
That's all... That's it..
There is one major bonus to the simplicity of these programs is that
they take up almost no system resources.  I've use them while
downloading off the internet, listening to CD's etc.. they run almost
seamlessly, since the drive is doing most of the work and not the system.
What they don't do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They won't format disks in other drives like B, C, D, etc.. unless you've
altered the bat files.
They won't ask for a volume name.
They won't increment the volume name.
The won't change the disk ID.
They also won't take up any more than about 15kb (unzipped) of your hard
drive space. I hate disk formatters that are huge.

What happens when they run..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They will ask you if you want to format a disk.
If you hit "n" they will terminate, if you hit "y" they will proceed.
Then the program checks the formatted disk for errors and reports to
the screen.  A normal error free format should look similar to below:
-------------------
    Volume Serial Number is 2E28-1CCE
(1.44) 1,457,664 bytes total disk space or (720) 730,112 bytes available
(1.44) 1,457,664 bytes available on disk or (720) 730,112 bytes available
   512 bytes in each allocation unit or (720) 1,024 bytes in each all. unit
 2,847 total allocation units on disk or (720)  713 total all. units on disk
 2,847 available allocation units on disk or (720) 713 available all.
      655,360 total bytes memory
      582,208 bytes free
Instead of using CHKDSK, try using SCANDISK.  SCANDISK can reliably detect
and fix a much wider range of disk problems.
--------------------------
Then it asks you if you wish to format a disk again.
Hit "y" to continue and "n" to exit. It's that simple.
Uninstalling the programs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  To uninstall the programs simply delete the following subdirectories and all the files contained in them:

                c:\windows\startup menu\programs\Cheesy L.F.v1
                c:\program files\Cheesy Little Formatter v1
that's it..
