AE Software Catalogue V1.0.
Developed by Rick D. Smith and Angel Enterprises.

What?

AE Software Catalogue is a simple program designed to help
the average person keep track of their growing software
database. It allows you to enter and retrieve information
about your software, including a catalogue number so you
easily locate it when you want it. You can scroll through
your list of programs leisurely using user friendly buttons
and pull down menus, including category search. It was written
on a 133mhz Intel Pentium Computer

Requirements:
In order to use this program you must be running a Pentium
based computer with Windows 95 or higher installed. The
software is 32bit and will not work on a 16bit system. You
will require at least 3.5 megs free HD space on your C:
drive.

Installation:

Installing the program is obvious. Just unarchive the files to a
temporary directory, then click on the setup icon. It will
install to your computer automatically and place icons on your
start menu. Then run the program and you should be happening.

Freeware / Shareware ??

This program is technically shareware. It may be freely distributed
as long as it contains all of the files in this original archive.
If you are assembling shareware collections for selling purposes,
feel free to include my program in your collection but you must have
informed me of your intention to do so (one way or another). While
I say the prgram is shareware it may as well be freeware, because
there are no options within the program that are disabled and it does
not have a time expiry. You can use this program indefintely without
paying a single nickel. The only thing you will notice in the
unregistered version is that there are shareware banners that popup
from time to time. The registered version is exactly the same as the
shareware version only minus the banners. So if you ignore the banners
you can use the program free forever. Registration costs only $5.00
if you want to loose the banners. Contact me by e-mail if you want to
register and I will give you a mailing address to send your money.

If you need to contact me for registration, to report a bug, or any
other reason you can contact me by e-mail at the following address:

AngelEnterprises@bc.sympatico.ca

I have no web page . . . I can barely afford to pay for my e-mail
address let alone a web page. Who the heck do you think I am???
Microsoft ???

Warranty:

There is no warranty. The author makes no claims of compatability or
anything else. Use this software at your own risk. The developer will
not be held responsible for any damage or loss of data that might
occur as a result of using this program. Compatablity is too difficult
to absolutely guarantee. That being said, the program has been
thoroughly tested by myself and others and has functioned fine without
problems of any sort.

Using the program:

The program is so painfully easy to use it is almost sickening.

To create new entries simply click on the new entry button which
will create and take you to a blank entry field where you can enter
a title, catalogue id number/ location, category, and a description.
When you are done simply click on the save entry button to save it
to the database, or on the abort entry button to cancel entry. Make
sure you use one of the provided categories in the scroll box or your
entry will not be retrievable through the category search. Future
versions will include user definable categories.

To delete an entry simply click on the entry you want to delete
(all entries appear on clickable buttons) and then click on delete
and it will vanish from your list magically leaving you stunned
and amazed.

You can search through your entries using the arrow buttons, or by
clicking on one of the letter buttons (in all files mode only) to
advance alphabetically. You can also use the pull down list menus
to search for entries in a specific category.

Existing entries can be edited directly while in the All Files mode,
and will be updated in the database automatically. Entries cannot
be edited while in category search mode. Future versions will allow
edit in category mode as well.

If you want to backup your data there are four files you will need
to save. In the program directory,
C:\Program Files\Angel Enterprises\AngelSoft\
you will find the following files:

soft.db
soft.mb
soft.px
soft.val

These are the files you will need to save as a backup. Then after
reinstalling your program after formating or whatever reason has
caused you to reinstall your system, you can just copy these files
back into the original directory. Backup these files regularly.
Loosing 100 or so entries can be a real bummer.
