Foreword

Digital Suggestion Box was created as a communication tool for use over a Local Area Network. 

Installation

Please run your Virus program before you install this program.  It is just good practice.  
All files are checked and verified to be Virus free before upload.  The nature of 
shareware does not allow FAROJH Software to have complete control over the files after we 
upload them.

This program requires Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0.  To install, unzip all files into a 
temporary directory.  From there, run setup from that directory.  The setup program will 
properly expand all the files into the directory you choose.  You will then be able to run
the program.  Windows 95 should recognize everything and you should be able to uninstall 
it if you need to.  

The first time you run the program as the system manager, you should change the password.

Background

    Most of us, in business, have been frustrated by the actions of well meaning managers
that create "Suggestion Boxes".  They put up a brightly colored box with a lock on it, 
make some forms with a forms generator, and begin their official "Total Quality 
Management" initiative to solve all the company's problems. 
    The offer is made to accept suggestions for improvement.  Total anonimity is promised.
This suggestion system normally ends up with a few well meaning suggestions in a box, 
corresponding to one or two persons individual gripes.  These suggestions are taken out 
of the box and given to a lower level manager to "take care of".   Since no one person takes 
responsibility for the action, no one ever knows what is done about the suggestions 
(no feedback that anyone is even looking at it).  
    Since no feedback as to the resolution of the suggestion is received, most personnel 
assume it has gone to that great management black hole in the office and soon, the box 
remains empty and is taken down.  No one wins.  The managers are upset that the personnel 
don't care.  The personnel are upset that the managers refuse to listen....and all due to 
a lack of communication.
    The institutionalization of the office network has made the lack of communication 
almost incomprehensible.  Email has been integrated into our daily routines.  Group 
information sharing is well within the reach of the smallest business.
    That is where this program comes in.  This is a suggestion box on your computer.  
It overcomes the limitations of the fixed Suggestion Box by allowing everyone to see what 
is being done to every suggestion and add their own information about it.  It promotes 
customer focus by getting the person making the suggestion to think about how the 
suggestion affects the customer.  It allows persons to make suggestions, take them on 
as projects and report back on the team's progress.  It allows persons to make comments 
on each suggestion and get contact information about the person who "owns" it.  It is set up 
so a person can choose his or her own user identification and password, a mechanism which 
still promotes anonimity.


OverView
    
The program operates in stages:
            
            Customer Form- Basic form the customer sees.  Is activated from the Main Menu.              

            Suggestion Input- Where a user inputs initial information
            
            Viewing Suggestions-  Where a user sees all the suggestions, is allowed to 
comment on them, view owner information, adopt a suggestion, and view any findings of the 
persons researching the suggestion.
    
            Owner Section- Used by the owners of a suggestion to report back on the 
estimated completion date of the investigation, report any  findings so far, adjust the 
"Need for Improvement" and  "Effect on Customer" sliders, and send suggestions to the 
Archive when finished.

            Archive Section- View suggestions with completed investigations.
