1. What is iCal?
-----------------

iCal is a Web Calendar/Scheduler that can be used for scheduling
meetings, events, vacations, menus, or just about anything else. It
is easy to use too: your calendar and all of the entry screens are on
  the web.

iCal is a new type of application; built exclusively for the web.
The program comes with a tiny built in web server that allows
for immediate access by anyone running a web browser.

2. What is new in 1.5?
----------------------

There are a number of new features provided with the 1.5 release.

  a. A list display of the data for a given month. Depending on the
data this may be the preferred format. The user can toggle
between the list and traditional monthly block display.
  b. Add-In files. These are text files that can define events to be
placed on the calendar. These files can hold traditional holidays,
religious holidays, moon phases, paydays or anything else. The
user can choose from a setup screen to add or remove any of these
     Add-In files.
  c. Header and footer text can optionally be displayed on the
     calendar.
  d. From the calendar the user can select to view any other calendar
being served by this instance of iCal.
  e. The ability to customize the calendar display by selecting
presentation features. For example whether other calendars can be
accessed, links to other months and years, headers, footers and other
features. Through setup screens you can select which of these
     features should be displayed.
  f. A color configuration screen allows all possible colors of the
     calendar to be customized.

3. Installation
----------------

    ZIP file Install:
If you have downloaded a ZIP, or self extracting archive from an online
service you will need to unpack the files to a temporary directory. Run
Add/Remove Programs for the Control Panel. Use Browse to locate the
    Setup program.

The Setup program properly installs iCal v 1.5 into the
Windows 95 and NT Registry. This allows you to use the Uninstall
feature to remove all traces of the program. This will not remove any
calendar files you may have created.

4. Getting Started
---------------------
After installing iCal 1.5 here are the quick steps needed to demonstrate
  the program.

  a. Start the program by clicking on the start button/Programs and
then "iCal Web Calendar" from the program list.

  b. Click the "Start Server" button from the Status Tab.

  c. From your favorite web browser enter http://localhost for the
Netsite or Address to be opened.

Those three steps should bring the iCal online Tutorial onto your
browser. From here you can learn about the powerful feature of
iCal and begin creating your own calendars for personal use or
for serving on your Intranet or even the Internet.

Note: On some computers with dial-up access to the Internet, you
may get no respone when you type in the URL http://localhost.
Should this happen, try first connecting to the Internet, and
then re-trying the above URL. This quite often occurs with IE 3.0.

.... By Golly if you can perform the three steps above, we think you
  will be very impressed!
