ABOUT VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT Tryout
Welcome to Vertigo 3D HotTEXT Tryout, the easiest way to bring real 3D text and
3D paths to Adobe(R) Photoshop(R). Position the word "Vertigo 3D" along a path, then add the 3D text to your Adobe Photoshop image with the click of a mouse.

You can choose your font, and apply surface textures or colors. Vertigo 3D
HotTEXT Tryout lets you create custom 3D paths, or choose from a variety of pre-set paths. You can also add custom lighting effects, set your camera view, and
control text width, height, depth, and tracking.

This is a Tryout. Full versions of Vertigo 3D HotTEXT allow you to create your own text.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-Pentium(R) or Pentium Pro processor
-Windows 95(R) or Windows NT(R) (3.51 or 4.0)
-32 MB of available RAM minimum
-Adobe Photoshop 4.0 or later
-QuickDraw(TM) 3D 1.5.3 or later
-Color monitor displaying 16-bit color or higher 

INSTALLING VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT Tryout
To install Vertigo 3D HotTEXT Tryout:
1. Make sure Adobe Photoshop 4.0 and QuickDraw 3D 1.5.3 or later are installed.
(QuickDraw 3D 1.5.3 is available from the QuickDraw website at http://quickdraw3d.apple.com)
2. In the HotTEXT Tryout folder, run Setup.exe. An introduction dialog appears.
3. Click Next to continue. The Software License Agreement appears.
4. If you accept the terms of the agreement, click Yes to continue. An installation dialog appears.
5. Choose the folder you'd like to install to, then click Next. Note that 
Vertigo 3D HotTEXT Tryout automatically selects your Adobe Photoshop Plugins folder.
You can select another location by clicking Browse. You may want to do this if:
-You have multiple disks
-You have more than one copy of Adobe Photoshop
-You want to install Vertigo 3D HotTEXT Tryout to a different host application
-You have moved or renamed your Adobe Photoshop Plugins folder
After you have selected a folder and clicked Next, the Start Copying Files
dialog opens.
9. Click Next to install Vertigo 3D HotTEXT Tryout. Once the installation is complete, a "successful installation" message appears.

USING VERTIGO 3D HOTTEXT TRYOUT
To use VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT Tryout, follow these basic steps.

For online Help, position the pointer over the triangle in the upper right corner of the VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT interface, hold down the mouse button, then drag to choose Help... from the palette menu.

LAUNCHING THE APPLICATION 
1. Install Vertigo 3D HotTEXT Tryout  using the installation instructions in this document.
2. Launch Adobe Photoshop and open the image you want to add 3D text to.
3. From the Filter menu, choose Vertigo 3D, then choose HotTEXT Tryout.
CHOOSING A FONT
4. To change your font, click the Text tab to access the Text palette, then use the Font pop-up menu to choose a new selection.
ADDING LIGHTS
5. To add a light to your scene, select the Light tool (located in the top right corner of the toolset, which is located on the left side of the interface), then click in the workspace.
6. To move a light, select the Arrow tool (located in the top left corner of the toolset), then select the light and drag it to the desired location.
7. To change a light's color, select the Arrow tool, double-click the light to open the Color Picker, then choose a new color and click OK.
POSITIONING AND SCALING TEXT
8. To position your text along the path or change text size, select one of the four Text tools, then drag in the workspace. To access the numeric Text controls, click the Controls... button, then click the Text tab. You can also double-click any of the Text tools to access the numeric controls.
WORKING WITH THE CAMERA
9. To position the camera, select one of the four camera tools (bottom two rows of the toolset) then drag in the workspace. To access the numeric Camera controls, click the Controls... button, then click the Camera tab. You can also double-click any of the Camera tools to access the numeric controls.
10. To choose pre-set views and set custom camera views, use the Camera View pop-up menu (bottom left side of the interface).
CHOOSING A PATH
11. To pick a new path, click the Path tab to access the Path palette, then choose a path from the Path pop-up menu.
12. To create a custom path, choose New Path... from the Path pop-up menu, then name the new path when prompted. The three Create Path tools are available in the upper right corner of the Vertigo 3D HotTEXT interface. Select a Create Path tool (Pen, Ellipse, or Polygon). If you've selected the Pen tool, click in the workspace to create enough points to make up a free path. If you've selected the Ellipse or Polygon tool, drag in the workspace to create an ellipse or polygon.
13. To convert a pre-set path to a custom path, click the Convert button, then name the new path when prompted. The Edit Path tools are available to the right of the Path pop-up menu.
14. To edit a custom path, use the four Edit Path tools.
APPLYING A SURFACE
15. To apply a pre-set texture to your text, click the Surface tab to access the Surface palette, then choose a texture from the Surface pop-up menu.
16. To get a texture from another location, choose New Texture... from the Surface pop-up menu. An Import File dialog box opens. Choose a BMP file, then click Open to apply the texture.
17. To apply a color to your text, choose Color from the Surface pop-up menu. The Faces and Sides color swatches are available. To apply a new color, click a color swatch to open the Color Picker, then choose a new color and click OK. You can link the color of the text faces and sides by clicking the Link checkbox.
18. Use the Transparency box to specify transparency. To specify transparency, click the left side arrows, enter a value from 1-100, or choose a pre-set value by clicking the right side arrow. Note that the results are not visible until you render your text, or do a preview.
CONTROLLING AMBIENCE
19. Click the Scene tab to access the Scene palette and Ambience controls. To change the color of the ambience (the overall lighting in the scene), click the Ambience color swatch to access the Color Picker, then choose a color and click OK.
20. Use the Intensity box to control ambience intensity. To specify ambience intensity, click the left side arrows, enter a value from 1-100, or choose a pre-set value by clicking the right side arrow.
CHOOSING A FINAL RENDER
21. Click the Scene tab to access the Scene palette and Render controls. Choose a final render from the Final Render pop-up menu.
YOUR FINAL IMAGE
22. To preview your final image, click the Preview button.
23. To render your text into your Adobe Photoshop image, click the OK button.
