Installation.

A.	Overview.

DBmaintMS, currently, processes Microsoft Access 95 (Version
	7.0) and Microsoft Access97 (Version 8.0) databases.

The DBmaintMS application is distributed in various ways.
It is recommended that West Coast Systems website be visited
to see what the	latest version is that is available. The website
uniform	reference locator (URL) is: http://www.wcsys.com

This may prevent the install of an old version of the DBmaintMS
	application.

Windows is known as a components based system. The DBmaintMS
application is therefore made up of components (such as its
direct executables, EXEs, DLLs, OCXs, OLBs, DAOs, etc.).

When any Windows application executes, it uses one or more
components to accomplish its processing. DBmaintMS is no
	different.

The install process will load needed DLLs, OCXs, OLBs, and
DAOs, application executables, applicatuib data files, etc..
These components total up to a significant amount of disk space.

However if some or many of the components already exist on the
system, then the total disk space requirements will be less than
the aggregate size of the install file(s) approximate 6 megabytes.

The install of Dbmaint may take up to 5 megabytes of disk space,
on the c: drive, if none of the components needed already exist
on the system on which DBmaintMS is being installed.

There is no choice about where to install the DLLs, OCXs, and
DAOs. This is a Windows requirement, not an application
	requirement.

About an additional 1.5 megabytes of disk space will be needed on
the drive selected during the install process for holding the
application executable and data files. This may or may not be
	the c:\ drive.

The total install size spread across all disks, if none of the
components needed already exist on the system, is approximately
	6.5 Megabytes.

No files are installed in the c:\Windows folder.

The install process will not replace newer version files with
older version files in the c:\Windows\System folder. If a file
does not contain version information then creation date/time
is used to make sure a newer file is not replaced with a file
	that has an older date\time.

The install process creates a folder called "Dbmaint". Below
the "Dbmaint" folder, there are three other folders created:
	Log, Scripts, and Support.

These folders will contain very small files used to support
this application, with the exception that the support folder
will contain a documentation file called "ReadmeWP.txt", about
100K in size. This is effectively the "manual/help" file for
	this application.

The completed install looks like the following:

Under the drive and folder chosen during the install

			...\Dbmaint.exe
			...\DBmaintMS.exe
			...\DBmaintVC.exe
			...\log\
			...\scripts\
			...\support\ReadmeWP.txt

			...\_deisreg.isr (used/required for uninstall)
			...\_isreg32.dll (used/required for uninstall)
			...\DelsL1.isu (used/required for uninstall)

The Windows system folder will contain the various DLLs,
OCXs, and OLBs related to the application.

		The folder c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Dao
		contains the DAO components installed.

B.	Environment Requirements.

	(1)	Win95

	(2)	WordPad

Wordpad is not distributed as a part of the this
application, but is used by this application.

Wordpad is copyrighted by the Microsoft Corporation.

The Wordpad applet is expected to be found in the
		Windows folder c:\program files\accessories.

	(3)	16 MB of Ram.

	(4)	A mouse.

	(5)	A total of around 6.5 megabytes (6.5 MB) of disk space.

About 5 Megabytes of disk space on drive c:,
if none of the components needed already exist
		on the computer system.

Around 1.5 MB of disk space on the drive picked
for installing DBmaintMS. This is to hold the
application executables, documentation, and data files.

C.	Install.

The install process will take a few minutes.

For installing from the zip file

Use a Zip file manager (WinZip, PkZip, Helix Zip Manager, etc.)
to unzip the ".zip" file into a temporary folder.

This will result in several text files which may be read
using Windows NotePad applet or the Windows WordPad applet.

ReadMe.txt - List of ZIP file contents
Install.txt - System requirements and install information
Descript.txt	- Application description and features
Faq.txt - Frequently Asked Questions (and answers)
Revision.txt	- contains application revision history

Additionally there will be a file named Setupex.exe. Double
clicking this file will begin the install process for DBmaintMS.

Please follow the instructions presented by the setup program.
