1) INSTRUCTIONS FOR RUNNING THE 11TH HOUR DEMO

	a)	General

To run The 11th Hour Demo go to your C:\GAMES\11H directory
(default) and type GO. We recommend that you run The 11th Hour
from a DOS prompt as opposed to a DOS box under Windows.

If you are running Windows 95, we recommend that you do run
The 11th Hour from a full screen DOS session. The 11th Hour
utilizes the CD-ROM caching abilities provided by Windows 95.

If you are having difficulty running The 11th Hour from a
full screen DOS shell window under Windows 95, then you should
select "Shut Down" from the Windows 95 START menu. When the
"Shut Down Windows" box comes up, click on the third button,
which says, "Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode?" press ENTER
or "YES". Once you get to the DOS prompt, change to your CD-ROM
drive (With The 11th Hour disk #1 in it) and type "GO" and
		press the ENTER key.

	b)	DOS Properties

In your properties for your MS-DOS prompt (chosen by right
clicking on that icon), you need to make the following
selections for the game to run properly, it might be helpful to
create a copy of the MS-DOS prompt and adjust the properties
for the copy rather than the original (although these settings
are necessary for almost all DOS based games).

From the MISC dialog box, make sure that "Allow screensaver" is
not checked, and that "Idle sensitivity" is set as low as
		possible.

	c)	My Computer Properties

Windows	95 comes with a very nice CD-ROM drive cache, the only
one that Trilobyte endorses (please do not use any others, they
will slow down 11H by a noticeable factor. 11H contains it's
own, quite advanced, CD-ROM cache as well), to make sure this
is turned on, select the properties for "My Computer" (by right
clicking on that icon), click on the Performance dialog box,
select the File-System dialog box, then select the CD-ROM
dialog box, and make sure the settings reflect that the cache
is on and tuned for your CD-ROM drive speed.

	d) How to Fix Memory Errors -- Disk Caching/Memory Managers

		1)	SMARTDRV.EXE -- "Out of memory"

If an "Out of memory" error occurs you may have to alter the
SMARTDRV line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to read as
		SMARTDRV.EXE 1024 512.

2) MAXIMIZING PERFORMANCE - How to Change Setup

	a) Color depth - "Can I use 24-bit Color?"

On most computers, The 11th Hour works best at the 16-bit color
setting, but in some cases you may need to try a different
		setting.

On some lower-end machines the user may experience slow downs
when animation or dramatic video is playing. Decreasing the
bits per pixel (bpp) in the STARTUP screen's SETUP menu will
aid in increasing the game speed. If the 16-bit color setting
doesn't work well, try changing the color setting to 8-bit.

To run The 11th Hour in 24-bits per pixel mode, you will need
to have at least two Megabytes of VRAM as well as 16 Megabytes
		of system RAM.

	b)	FULL SCREEN or QUARTER SCREEN video settings

If the video on your machine seems sluggish, decrease the
setting to QUARTER SCREEN VIDEO. Some lower-end systems may
have trouble running video at 30 frames per second when
configured as FULL SCREEN VIDEO. Using FULL SCREEN VIDEO may
cause sound problems on slower computers. If the audio sounds
choppy, you should change the setting to QUARTER SCREEN VIDEO.

	c)	Interlaced full screen motion video

You can choose to view the video in interlaced or non-
interlaced modes. Try the YES setting to run The 11th Hour in
interlaced mode to speed up your video performance.

	d)	Require RETURN to disk swap

This setting is to help eliminate any potential disk swapping
problems. If YES is selected then you must either click the
selection button on the mouse or press the ENTER key after a
new disc has been inserted and before The 11th Hour continues
		with gameplay.

	e)	Sound is played in STEREO or MONO

Running the sound in The 11th Hour in MONO rather than STEREO
can help improve the clarity of the actor's voices. The
default setting is STEREO. If voices sound fuzzy or garbled,
change the sound setting to MONO.

	f)	Hardware page flipping

Some video chipsets cause lines of color to display at the very
bottom of the screen during animation sequences. Turning
hardware page flipping OFF should resolve this, though you may
find that it slows animations down somewhat.

	g)	Animations displayed normally or in SPOOKY MODE

SPOOKY MODE is 8-bit grayscale with color cursors, puzzle and
game pieces. It is the preferred display setting of the
developers at Trilobyte. Just for fun, try out the SPOOKY
		MODE.

	h) Problems with sound

If the audio sounds choppy, you may be running a video setting
that requires a faster computer. If the audio doesn't sound
right on your machine, try changing the video setting to
QUARTER SCREEN VIDEO. If that doesn't work, try changing the
sound setting from STEREO to MONO as described above.

YOU WILL NEED TO QUIT AND RESTART AFTER CHANGING ANY SETTINGS

3) DEMO BACKGROUND/INTERFACE€INSTRUCTIONS

	a)	"WELCOME TO MY HOUSE"

In upstate New York lies Harley on the Hudson, a little town
where supernatural things are said to have happened. A
strangely quiet place where, amidst the misery of the Great
Depression, an enigmatic drifter named Henry Stauf built a toy
		making empire...
Little is known of the mysterious genius Henry Stauf, only that
he crafted incredible toys from his dreams. It was said, "A
Stauf toy is a toy for life," and, quickly, Stauf's toys became
among the most celebrated and sought after in all the world.

Stauf grew wealthy, and he built a mansion for himself -- a
bizarre estate fashioned from a dream. But then the deadly
virus came -- a virus killing only the children -- stealing
their lives as they lay feverishly in bed clutching their Stauf
toys. And suddenly, without explanation, Henry Stauf closed
the doors of Stauf's Wonderworld Toys...forever.
Withdrawn and reclusive, Stauf confined himself to his mansion,
hidden behind a veil of shadows, shrouded in secrets untold.
For years the mansion stood silent, brooding, and nothing more
was heard from Henry Stauf. Nothing.

Until one evening Stauf invited six guests to spend the night,
luring them with a promise to fulfill each person's most secret
		desire...
No one knows what took place within the walls of Stauf's
mansion that dark night. None of the guests were ever seen or
heard from again. And Henry Stauf seemed to have vanished into
the rooms, the corridors, the very air of his most sinister
		creation.

It is now 1995 and you, as Carl Denning Jr., are an
investigative reporter for the television series "Case
Unsolved." Robin Morales, your producer, and erstwhile lover
has mysteriously vanished while gathering background
information surrounding the series of grisly murders and
disappearances in the otherwise quiet little town of Harley on
		the Hudson River.
Your only solid lead is a portable computer called the GameBook
which was delivered to you -- postmarked Harley, NY. Perhaps
it was sent by Robin. Perhaps it is the evil handiwork of
Stauf himself, updating his craft to meet the demands of the
		90's.

You decide to drive to Harley that very night, going directly
to the Stauf mansion to track down Robin. You discover nothing
at first, other than a decaying, abandoned interior filled with
the artifacts of a past era. Along the way, you not only
stumble across some unsavory and horrifying clues, but you may
find out even more than you could ever imagine -- much more!
When you've gathered all necessary facts, and have solved the
many mysteries and puzzles within the weathered walls of
Stauf's mansion, you will have to make yet one more difficult
		choice.
It is a choice that you will have to live with for the rest of
your life, however long that may be...

a number of psycho-kinetic hot spots. When positioned over
such an area, the cursor changes according to the nature of the
hot spot. Clicking the left selection button unleashes the
psycho-kinetic energy lying therein. A list of the various
