Elastic Reality is responsible for many of the coolest effects seen on TV and in Film and, while you may not have the budget of a major Hollywood production, itÕs nice to know you can use the same tools.

Elastic Reality (ER) is a powerful tool that lets you morph and warp images, create digital effect transitions, travelling mattes, composite video and help out with animation. It uses a unique shape based approach to special effects and will work with single images or entire movies. You use familiar bezier drawing tools to define regions, ÔshapesÕ, that you want to affect, rather than the messy point or mesh based systems of lesser products. These shapes can be grouped and can pass over or under each other, each group can move at different times which can help create some amazing dynamic effects. Another important feature is the wireframe preview which lets you check the motion of these shapes without going to the expense of ÔrenderingÕ a final image or movie. Because of this shape based system, ER can be used to precisely cut objects out from complicated backgrounds and composite them on top of other images or video. People are also using ER to help them create in-between images for cartoon animation and as the warping and morphing effects are of such high quality the results are impeccable.


The Windows Elastic Reality demo is a fully functioning application that will add red lines to the output images to ensure non-commerical use. It will let you use all the features and you can experiment with the tutorial files. Just run SETUPER.EXE to start.
