HUMANS: REPRODUCTION
There are two human genders. The male contributes genetic material to the female, where fertilization occurs. The resulting embryo lives inside the female for nearly a year until it is expelled or, in the Human term, "born". The immature Human offspring then takes an additional 15 to 20 years to reach adulthood.
