DirectX is a series of drivers developed by Microsoft to increase the speed of graphics and sound processing within the Windows 95 environment, particularly for games and multimedia applications that require the fastest possible display performance.  However these drivers are still being developed and there have been several reports of the DirectX drivers overwriting some default graphics drivers and causing Windows 95 to crash.

Make sure you have backups of your graphic card drivers before installing DirectX.  We should add that these problems are fairly rare and should not put you off enjoying the contents of our CD.
