Taking a shot
There are 4 methods which can be used when taking
a shot:-
3 Click Method: After positioning
the arc press T ( for Take shot mode ). If you wish to cancel this mode
press T again. Now press the Enter key to start your back swing, press
it again to stop your back swing and start the forward swing. Press Enter
a third time on the snap line to hit the ball. The snap line is located
at the 6 O'Clock position on the swingometer.
2 Click Method: After positioning the
arc press T ( for Take shot mode ). If you wish to cancel this mode press
T again. Now press and hold the Enter key to start your back swing, release
the enter key to stop your back swing and start the forward swing. Press
Enter a second time on the snap line to hit the ball. The snap line is
located at the 6 O'Clock position on the swingometer.
Actua Swing: This method is only possible
when using a mouse. After positioning the arc press T ( for Take shot mode
). If you wish to cancel this mode press T again. Now pull the mouse toward
you to start your back swing and then push it away from you to perform
a down swing. The faster you push the mouse away from you the faster the
club will swing and the further the ball will be hit. If you wish to hit
the ball in a straight line make sure that you move your mouse away from
you in a straight line. If you move your mouse to the left or right
you as you push it forward you will hook or slice the ball.
Actua Swing For Laptop: This is an Actua Swing control method that has been specially calibrated for laptop input devices ( nipples and touch-pads). After positioning the arc press T ( for Take shot mode ). If you wish to cancel this mode press T again. Now pull the nipple toward you, or drag your finger toward you on the touch-pad, to start your back swing and then push the nipple away from you, or push your finger away from you on a touch-pad, to perform a down swing. The faster you push away from you the faster the club will swing and the further the ball will be hit. If you wish to hit the ball in a straight line make sure that you move your nipple or slide your finger on the touch pad away from you in a straight line. If you move left or right you as you push it forward you will hook or slice the ball.
Practice Taking a shot
To practice a shot with any of the swing methods
above press P instead of T to toggle the practice shot mode on and off.
Moving the camera
As Actua Golf 2 is a fully 3D environment you
can change your point of view of the course. <Ctrl> + <Shift>
+ Cursor Left means hold down the control and shift keys and press the
Cursor Left key.
2.2
INSTALLING APOCALYPSE 3D/3DX (POWERVR) DRIVERS
These drivers are for the Apocalypse 3D/3DX
chip sets only. To install the Apocalypse 3D drivers follow the instructions
contained within Apoclyps\3D\Readme.doc file. To install the Apocalypse
3DX drivers follow the instructions contained within Apoclyps\3DX\Readme.doc
file.
3.2
MENU SOUND ISSUES
On some systems, selecting DD Hardware Accl.
(DirectDraw Hardware Acceleration) from the Visual setup screen can cause
the Menu System sound to become distorted. If this occurs, disable this
function. DirectDraw hardware acceleration will be disabled the next time
you go into the Menu System.
3.3
CIRRUS LOGIC GRAPHIC CARDS
Users of Cirrus Logic graphics cards should
be aware that selecting DD Hardware Accl. (DirectDraw Hardware Acceleration)
from the Visual setup screen may cause the game to pause when going between
the menus and the game. Disabling the DD Hardware Accl. and then re-starting
the game should prevent this from happening.
3.4
SLOW SWINGOMETER RESPONSE WITH VOODOO RUSH
If you are using a 3DFX Voodoo Rush card and
there is a noticeable delay between when you click the mouse button and
the swingometer responding then you must install the 3DFX Glide 2.43 drivers.
See section 2.1 in this document to find out how to do this.
3.5
SWITCHING TASKS WITH VOODOO RUSH
It is not advisable to switch task (e.g.. ALT
TAB) when playing the game with a 3DFX Voodoo Rush card.
3.6
3DFX GLIDE AND DIRECT3D WITH 3DFX
Selecting 'Direct3D: 3DFX Interactive DirectX
Driver' as your graphics device on the visual setup screen after playing
the game when '3DFX (Glide)' has been previously selected may cause the
game to hang. It is therefore advisable to reset your machine when
switching between these two graphics devices.
3.7 PROBLEMS STARTING THE GAME
If you are unable to get the game to start at all it may be that the game's default settings conflict with your computer. A useful utility has been provided to allow you to change the games default settings so that you can start the game.
To run the utility locate the file Res.exe on
the Actua Golf 2 Demo CD and double click it. A description of the
settings that can be configured follows. Unless you have an idea of where
the problem is yourself, the best strategy is to change each default one
at a time and re-run the game to see if it fixes your problem.
This allows you to select the screen mode that
the game will first run in. It only sets the menu system's screen mode
and does not set the screen mode for when you go to the tee and start to
play a round. To change this screen mode you must go to the visual setup
screen when you are in the menu system.
The current default resolution will be highlighted.
To change the default click a different resolution, click OK and then re-run
the game.
Set H/W Acceleration Default
This allows you to decide whether DirectDraw hardware acceleration is enabled or disabled on start up.
A tick will appear in the box if the hardware acceleration default is set to on. It will be blank if it is not.
To change the default click to tick or un-tick
the box, click OK and then re-run the game.
Running the game with this card in DirectDraw
mode (320x200 8 bit) can cause some on-screen corruption. Try using a higher
screen resolution or the GLIDE (3DFX) drivers.
3.9 DIRECTDRAW HARDWARE ACCELERATION
For compatibility the DirectDraw Hardware Acceleration
switch has been set to Off. Switch the DDHardware Accl. (in the Visual
Setup Screen) to On, or follow the instructions for the 'Res' program (section
3.7 above), to improve graphical performance.
