Realms of the Haunting (R.O.T.H.) -------------------------------- (C) 1996 Gremlin Interactive Ltd. Welcome to the Realms of the Haunting demo. It offers a glimpse of a huge adventure. If you have any difficulty running the demo contact the Gremlin Helpline on 0114 2799020. The game requires a minimum of 8Mb of memory and a 486/66 DX2. You can run the game from a DOS box under Windows95 if you have 16Mb of memory, otherwise you should run from DOS. Use the INSTALL program to install the game. Only choose the minimum install option if you definitely do not have enough space. It will run much faster with the medium or full installs. If you hit ESCAPE whilst a video clip is playing it will skip the rest of the video. If you press ESCAPE in game you will quit the demo. Roth Interface. Whenever you see the green part of the pointer light up that means you can do something with it. Left clicking whilst the green light is lit will carry out an action. Usually this is obvious - a door will open, an object will be picked up, a lever will be thrown, etc. Whenever you see the eyeball icon appear in the pointer. This means that this object can be examined - Right clicking whilst this is highlighted will yield a descriptive note of worth. Whenever you see the pointer light up red it usually means you are pointing the cursor at a monster. Left clicking will select and fire your last used/picked up weapon. Whenever there are no highlights - you are able to look around by holding down both mouse buttons and moving the mouse around. Your inventory is automatically sorted. It is arranged in the following. Bag General Items Gun Weapons Magic Mysterious or Magical Items. Scroll Books and letters. I Information - talk to your characters. You have two boxes that represent your left and right hand. You are able to left click on objects and click in one of you hand boxes to place the item in your hand. Weapons and objects can be selected for use in this way. Most objects can be examined as in the game interface right clicking (if there’s an eyeball) will bring up a picture of the object and will enable you to discuss/investigate it further by clicking on the magnifying glass (if it is there). Pressing space or clicking on the small object icon in the top right hand corner of the object box will close it down. Pressing escape will close the inventory box completely. The keys 2-6 equate to the first five weapon boxes. If you arrange your most loved weapons in these first five boxes, pressing the relevant key will quickly give you that weapon.
