Description of Personal Recipe Manager III. Description of Personal Recipe Manager Personal Recipe Manager is a program designed to edit, file, and print your personal recipes. It is organized much like a box of index cards with dividing cards. In a recipe card file each category is labeled on a dividing card, with recipes that fit into that category placed behind the dividing card. Personal Recipe Manager has the equivalent of 30 dividing cards, or categories, and the potential of 105 recipe cards behind each dividing card, or category. This makes for a file with a total of 3,150 recipes. IV. Installation of Personal Recipe Manager IV. Installation of Personal Recipe Manager Two disk drive systems: Two disk drive systems: Format a blank disk to be used by Personal Recipe Manager as a working disk. Copy the files named PRM.EXE and PRMPREP.EXE onto the working disk. Place the working disk into the default drive and run PRMPREP.EXE. This will initialize the files needed for the program. Delete PRMPREP.EXE from the working disk. The Personal Recipe Manager working disk is now ready to use. Hard disk systems: Hard disk systems: Create a sub-directory for the recipe files to reside in. A suggested name is PRMFILES. Use the command MD \PRMFILES to create this sub-directory. Copy the files named PRM.EXE and PRMPREP.EXE into the directory for the recipe files. As an alternative, you can copy the two files into a directory on the hard drive that has a search path set to it. (i.e. If you placed the files named PRM.EXE and PRMPREP.EXE into C:\BIN, then the path should contain C:\BIN. ) Change directory into the recipe files directory. For the suggested sub-directory use CD \PRMFILES. Run PRMPREP.EXE to initialize the needed files. Copyright by Desert Mountain Industries -Page 4- Personal Recipe Manager is now ready to use on your hard disk system. Copyright by Desert Mountain Industries -Page 5- 1. Look in a category 1. Look in a category When you select this option you will be asked for the number of the category to look in. If you enter a number that is not a valid recipe number, you will be returned to the category menu. After you select a valid recipe number, that recipe will be displayed to you one page at a time. When you reach the bottom of the recipe, you will be given the opportunity to print the recipe if you desire. If you select the print option, you will be asked whether to print directly to the printer, or to send the recipe to a DOS file. If you select the printer option then you will need to make sure that your printer is on and the paper is set at the top of the page. Once your printer is ready, press any key to start the printing. If you select the file option, you will be prompted for the name of the file to place the recipe into. After you have done this, a copy of the recipe will be placed into the named file. One reason for the ability to place a recipe into a file is to allow you the chance to include recipes into a word processor. After you have finished with reading and printing a recipe, you will be returned to the category menu. Copyright by Desert Mountain Industries -Page 7- 2. Add a recipe 2.
