			 The SWOTL Plane Manager 2.5
                              by Glenn Price
			     GekkoSoft, 1993

To run, you will need QBasic. Type this at your
DOS prompt to run with ease:

	QBASIC /RUN C:\SPM25.BAS

This assumes that the program is in your main Hard Drive directory. You
should also back-up all of your aircraft SPC files, located in the "AC"
directory. You then can modify the aircraft files directly, without the
worry of damaging the originals.

1.1 Introduction

With this program, you will be able to modify several aspects of
your aircraft's SPC file. These aspects are:

	1. Aircraft's name in the weapons menu during pre-briefing
	2. Aircraft's ID# (this number controls what aircraft is seen
in the map screen and the stats screen in de-briefing)
	3. Aircraft's country
	4. Engine # and type
	5. Engine Endurances
	6. Engine Damage Threshold
	7. The Landing gear arrangement
	8. Dive Brakes enabled/disabled
	9. The # of fuel tanks and how much fuel they contain
	10. The adding or removing of armour for each tank
	11. All weapons/drop tanks aspects, including those on the racks

If you have entered the wrong selection, or if you have entered the
wrong menu, entering nothing (pressing enter) will return you to your
previous menu.

1.2 Aircraft's Name

This selection allows you to change the name that appears at the
top of the weapons section of the pre-briefing screen. This name can be
anything, 11 characters maximum.

1.3 Aircraft's ID Number

This selection allows you to pick any aircraft in SWOTL to be the
pictorial representation of your aircraft in the map and de-briefing
screens.

1.4 Aircraft's Country

This selection allows you to change the county that you fly for. The
two choices are Axis (Germany) or Allied (America, England, etc.).

1.5 Number of Engines and Engine Type

This selection allows you to change your number of engines. You can
choose 0-4. After that is selected, SPM 2.0 will ask you what type of engine
it will be (Piston, Jet, or Rocket). Note: Selecting rocket will change
your landing gear into a retractable skid and there will be a trail of
rocket exhaust (white puffs) behind you.

1.6 Engine Endurance

This selection will allow you to change the way in which your engine
performs. Selecting a poor engine type will cause your engine to rapidly
overheat and deteriorate when your engine RPMs are in the red zone. Further
overheating will cause your engine to burn, and eventually explode.
Selecting an excellently performing engine will be wise, as it never
overheats or explodes when in the red zone of your RPMs gauge under normal
conditions.

1.7 Engine Damage Threshold

This selection will allow you to change your aircraft's damage
threshold. Choosing the lowest setting (poor) will cause your engine to
smoke, burn, and eventually explode after just a few hits to the engine
areas on your aircraft. Choosing the highest setting (excellent) will allow
your engine to take a lot of hits before smoking. Burning might
occasionally be reached, and an engine explosion, under several hits, is
rarely reached.

1.8 Landing Gear Configuration

This selection will allow you to change how your landing gear is
configured. Selecting "Landing gear is down" will make it impossible to
retract your landing gear. Selecting "Landing gear is up" will make it
impossible to lower your gear for landing. However, for take-off, your
aircraft will be fitted with a dolly. I wouldn't advise selecting this
unless your into crash landings. Selecting "Gear is retractable" will allow
you to raise or lower your landing gear. All stock aircraft in SWOTL use
this function.

1.9 Dive Brakes Enabled/Disabled

Selecting this will allow you to add Dive Brakes to your aircraft,
or remove them. If you enable this feature on an aircraft that has an
instrument panel other than the P-80's, the only way to tell that your Dive
Brakes are extended or retracted is by your aircraft speed, and what the
message bar at the bottom of the screen tells you.

1.10 The Number of Fuel Tanks and How Much Fuel They Contain

This selection allows you to add or remove the fuel tanks on your
aircraft. The lowest is 1, maximum is 4. (what were you expecting, the fuel
tank on the Space Shuttle?) After you select the number of tanks, SPM 2.0
will ask you how much fuel you want for each individual tank. Note: The
amounts shown ARE NOT in gallons, or any other consistant measuring unit,
as a BF-109's fuel value might get it about halfway across the English
Channel, while a P-51D using the same fuel value would be able to get around
the world and have enough fuel left over to go another 5000 miles!

1.11 The Weapons menu

The best feature about SPM 2.0 is the Weapons selector. With this,
you can make a bomb with enough explosive power to destroy 100 square miles
easy, and hang it off your center rack. Or, you can make a 30mm Hughes Chain
Gun like the one used on the AH-64 Apache, and hang a drop tank off of your
inner racks. The possibilites are endless. The following are the availible
selections of the Weapons Menu:

	1. Change 1st main weapon
	2. Change 2nd main weapon
	3. Remove 1st main weapon
	4. Remove 2nd main weapon
	5. Change weapons on the center rack
	6. Change weapons on the inner rack
	7. Change weapons on the outer rack

1.12.1 Change 1st Main Weapon

Selecting this will allow you to put any weapon (MG/cannon, rocket,
or bomb) on your aircraft's non-interchangable's rack. This means that once
you put a weapon here, it's built in to your aircraft.

1.12.2 Change 2nd Main Weapon

This selection is the same as #10, but this one won't replace the
primary, or 1st, main weapon. So, instead of having only one tank-busting
30mm GAU-23 cannon, you can have two. Twice the fun, eh?

1.12.3 Remove 1st Main Weapon

Selecting this will erase the 1st main weapon from your aircraft.
Sort of like Dad taking your BB gun after you've put 22 holes in your
bedroom wall.

1.12.4 Remove 2nd Main Weapon

Selecting this will erase the 2nd main weapon from your aircraft.
Sort of like Dad taking your pellet pistol after nailing the neighbor's cat
one too many times.

1.12.5 Change Weapons on the Center Rack

Selecting this will allow you to add or remove weapons on the center
rack. SPM 2.0 will ask you how many weapons do you want on each rack. The
maximum number of weapons is 2. If you don't want any, enter zero. this will
erase any weapons on the center rack of your aircraft.

1.12.6 Change Weapons on the Inner Rack

This does the same as #15, but on the inner rack.

1.12.7 Change Weapons on the Outer Rack

This does the same as #15, but on the outer rack.

This ends the SPM 2.0 instruction manual. I hope that you enjoy this
program. This program is FreeWare. The only request that I ask of you is to
have this document with the program if you wish to distribute it.

3.1 Acknowedgements

I would personally like to thank Greg "Sturmer" Smith for his extensive
help and insight into the SPC files. Without him, this program would be
nothing more that a worthless text file. I would like to thank also the
authors of SPC.TXT for their efforts in making SWOTL a funner game by
mapping each and every byte in the SPC files. I also would like to thank the
following for their help:

Keith Heitmann
Jon Saloga
Ken Braatz
Anthony Shimizu

and the rest of the SWOTL GROUP...may SWOTL live on forever!!!
