 2. The Sony 535 and Philips LMS drivers are in beta test and
    are available from PSPBETA forum on CompuServe, Prodigy, and

 3. The SCSI CD-ROM drive was announced after OS/2 2.1 shipped and has
    subsequently been certified to work with OS/2 2.1.  The CD-ROM drive
    model does not appear in the OS/2 2.1 Selective Install list, but is
    supported with the existing device drivers which ship in OS/2 2.1.
    The following table lists the new CD-ROM drive model along with the
    entry which should be selected in the Selective Install list to install
    the correct CD-ROM driver. (Note: The new entries have been added to
    the Selective Install list in OS/2 2.11).

 4.  The Chinon CD-ROM drive must be attached to a SCSI adapter which
     is supported in OS/2 with an OS/2 SCSI Adapter Device Driver (.ADD).
     There is currently no support for the Chinon SCSI adapter which is
     typically bundled with the drive.  Chinon is developing an OS/2
     Adapter Device Driver for their SCSI card, but no date has been
     committed.


 5.  The Hitachi non-SCSI CD-ROM device drivers are available from
     Hitachi.  IBM does not provide support for these drives.


 6.  Kodak multisession photo CD support for the NEC 3X drives requires
     the OS2CDROM.DMD driver which ships in OS/2 2.11 (or OS/2 2.1 Service
     Pack).  Single session photo CD for the NEC 3X is supported with the
     OS2CDROM.DMD which ships in OS/2 2.1.


 7.  The non-SCSI host adapters manufactured by Procom are based on
     Sony's host adapter design and are supposedly compatible with the
     standard Sony host adapters which OS/2 supports.  IBM has not
     certified the Procom adapters as yet, however.

 8.  The Procom SCSI CD-ROM drive must be attached to a SCSI adapter which
     is supported in OS/2 with an OS/2 SCSI Adapter Device Driver (.ADD).
     There is currently no support for the Procom SCSI adapter which is
     typically bundled with the drive.

 This section lists the parameters which are supported for the
 Mitsumi CD-ROM device driver.  The parameters can be changed by modifying
 the BASEDEV=MITFX001.ADD line in config.sys.  It is recommended
 to change the transfer mode from it default, software polling transfer,
 to software interrupt transfer.  This will help lower the CPU utilization
 of CD-ROM applications, enabling better performance for other tasks
 while the CD-ROM drive is being accessed.  See the /I parameter below.


 For the MITFX001.ADD device driver, the syntax for the line in config.sys
 is as follows:

    BASEDEV=MITFX001.ADD [/P:nnn] [I:nn] [/V]


    [/P:nnn]

      Specifies the base I/O port address of the interface card.
      This must be the same number as specified by the DIP switch
      on the interface card.


    [/I:nn]

      Specifies the interrupt request (IRQ) channel number.  This must
      match the value specified on the jumper setting on the interface
      card.  If this parameter is not specified, the device driver will
      use software polling transfer.


    [/V]

      The device driver will display the device driver revision level
      and CD-ROM product information at boot time.



 Mitsumi CD-ROM Device Driver Parameter Examples
 -----------------------------------------------

 1.  Mitsumi CD-ROM drive attached to Mitsumi host adapter:

     If the Mitsumi host adapter is set to a base I/O port address
     of 320, the line in config.sys should be:

         BASEDEV=MITFX001.ADD  /P:320


 2.  Mitsumi CD-ROM drive attached to Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 MultiCD

     If the Mitsumi CD-ROM port on the Sound Blaster 16 MultiCD is set
     to I/O port address of 340, the line in config.sys should be:


         BASEDEV=MITFX001.ADD  /P:340


 3.  To enable interrupt transfer mode, which improves performance,
     the /I parameter must be specified.  For example to enable
     interrupt transfer mode for IRQ channel 10 at I/O port address
     of 320h, the line in config.sys should appear as follows:


         BASEDEV=MITFX001.ADD  /P:320 /I:10


 Known Problems
 --------------
 The Diamond Viper video card and the Mitsumi host adapter conflict at port
 address 300h, which is the default port address of the Mitsumi card.  The
 result is a messed up display screen.  The user should change the port
 address on the Mitsumi card from 300h to another address, i.e. 310h,
 and add the /P parm to the BASEDEV=MITFX001.ADD statement in config.sys.

 -------------------------------------

 The parameters for the following CD-ROM adapter device drivers are
 described in this section:

    SONY31A.ADD

 This device driver supports the following CD-ROM drives:

    Sony CDU-31A,CDU-7305
    Sony CDU-33A,CDU-7405


 This section lists the parameters which are supported for the
 Sony CD-ROM device driver.  The parameters can be changed by modifying
 the BASEDEV=SONY31A.ADD line in config.sys.  It is recommended
 to change the transfer mode from it default, software polling transfer,
 to software interrupt transfer.  This will help lower the CPU utilization
 of CD-ROM applications, enabling better performance for other tasks
 while the CD-ROM drive is being accessed.  See the /I parameter below.


 For the SONY31A.ADD device driver, the syntax for the line in config.sys
 is as follows:

    BASEDEV=SONY31A.ADD [/A:d] [/AT:dd] [/P:nnn] [I:nn] [/V]


    [/A:d]

      Identifies a specific adapter, d.  The adapter is specified as
      a single digit value which is zero based.  (i.e. The first adapter
      is specified as /A:0).


    [/AT:dd]

      Sets the adapter type connected to the CD-ROM drive.

      Supported values are:
                00 = Sony CDB-334 (default)
                05 =  - Echo Speech (with ESC614 chip)
                      - Orchid SoundWave 32
                      - Orchid GameWave 32
                      - Cardinal DSP16
                08 = Media Vision ProAudio Spectrum-16


    [/P:nnnn]

      Specifies the base I/O port address of the interface card.  The
      port address is specified as a four digit hex value.  Leading
      zeros should be specified.  The value must be the same number as
      the port address selected by the jumper on the host interface card.

      If this parameter is not specified, the default port address for the
      host adapter is used.  For the Sony CDB-334 host interface card,
      the default is 0340.  For the Media Vision ProAudio Spectrum-16 card
      the default is 1F88.

      See the section below titled "Sony CDB-334 Host Adapter
      Jumper Settings".


    [/I:nn]

      Specifies the interrupt request (IRQ) channel number.  This must
      match the value specified on the jumper setting on the interface
      card. If this parameter is not specified, the device driver will use
      software polling transfer.  See the section below titled
      "Sony CDB-334 Host Adapter Jumper Settings".  This parameter
      switch is not supported if the CD-ROM drive is attached to the
      Media Vision ProAudio spectrum.

      Note: Some Sony CDB-334 host adapter cards did not ship with the
            plastic jumper switch to select the IRQ channel on the IRQ
            jumper block.  You must obtain and install the plastic jumper
            switch to enable the IRQ channel.


    [/V]

      The device driver will display the device driver revision level
      and CD-ROM product information at boot time.



 Sony CDU-31A Device Driver Parameter Examples
 ---------------------------------------------

 1. Sony CDU-31A or CDU-33A CD-ROM drive attached to Sony CDB-334 host adapter:

     The Sony CDB-334 host adapter supports base I/O port addresses of
     320h, 330h, 340h or 360h. If the CDB-334 host adapter is set to any
     port address other than the default of 340h, the config.sys statement
     needs to be modified. For example, if the Sony CDB-334 host adapter is
     set to a base I/O port address of 360, the line in config.sys should be:

         BASEDEV=SONY31A.ADD /A:0 /P:0360


     (Note: The Sony Desktop Library model number CDU-31A-LL/N includes
            the Sony CDB-334 adapter)


 2. Sony CDU-31A or CDU-33A CD-ROM drive attached to Sony CDB-334 host adapter.

     If the Sony CDU-31A is attached to the Sony CDB-334 host adapter at
     base I/O port address of 360h, and the driver is operating in interrupt
     mode at IRQ channel 5, the line in your config.sys should be:

         BASEDEV=SONY31A.ADD /A:0 /P:0360 /I:5


 3.  Sony CDU-31A or CDU-33A CD-ROM drive attached to Media Vision ProAudio
     Spectrum-16 (PAS-16) host adapter:

     The line in config.sys should appear as follows:

         BASEDEV=SONY31A.ADD /A:0 /AT:08


     (Note: The default port address for the CDU-31A when attached to
            the  PAS-16 card is 1F88.  The Sony Desktop Library model
            numbers CDU-31A-LL/L and CDU-7305 include the PAS-16 adapter).


 4. Sony CDU-31A or CDU-33A CD-ROM drive attached to the Creative Labs Sound
    Blaster Pro, Sound Blaster 16, or Sound Blaster 16 MultiCD
    host adapter:

    The port address specified on the BASEDEV statement in config.sys
    should be 10h above the base I/O port address specified on the adapter
    card.  For example, if the Sound Blaster card is set for a base
    I/O port address of 220h, the line in config.sys should be:

         BASEDEV=SONY31A.ADD /A:0 /P:0230

 This device driver supports the following CD-ROM drives:

    Sony 531 series (CDU-531,6201,6205)
    Sony 535 series (CDU-535,6205,7205)


 This section lists the parameters which are supported for the
 Sony CD-ROM device driver.  The parameters can be changed by modifying
 the BASEDEV=SONY535.ADD line in config.sys.  It is recommended
 to change the transfer mode from it default, software polling transfer,
 to software interrupt transfer.  This will help lower the CPU utilization
 of CD-ROM applications, enabling better performance for other tasks
 while the CD-ROM drive is being accessed.  See the /I parameter below.


 For the SONY535.ADD device driver, the syntax for the line in config.sys
 is as follows:

    BASEDEV=SONY535.ADD [/P:nnn] [I:nn] [/U:d,d...] [/V]


    [/P:nnn]

      Specifies the base I/O port address of the interface card.
      The value must be the same number as the port address selected
      by the jumper on the host interface card.


    [/I:nn]

      Specifies the interrupt request (IRQ) channel number.  This must
      match the value specified on the jumper setting on the interface
      card. If this parameter is not specified, the device driver will use
      software polling transfer.

      Note: Some Sony host adapter cards did not ship with the plastic
            jumper switch to select the IRQ channel on the IRQ jumper block.
            You must obtain and install the plastic jumper switch to enable
            the IRQ channel.


    [/U:d,d...]

      Specifies the drive unit number which the Sony CD-ROM drive is
      set to.  The value of d must be set to 0,1,2 or 3.  If more than
      one Sony CD-ROM drive is attached to the adapter, this parameter
      must be specified. If only one CD-ROM drive is attached to the
      adapter, and this parameter is not specified, then the default unit
      id used by the driver is 0.


    [/V]

      The device driver will display the device driver revision level
      and CD-ROM product information at boot time.



 Sony CDU-535 Device Driver Parameter Examples
 ---------------------------------------------

 1.  Sony CD-ROM drive attached to Sony CDB-240 series host adapter:

     For example, if the Sony host adapter is set to a base I/O port
     address of 360, the line in config.sys should be:

         BASEDEV=SONY535.ADD /P:360


 2.  Sony CD-ROM drive attached to Sony CDB-240 series host adapter.

     If the Sony CD-ROM drive is attached to the Sony host adapter at
     base I/O port address of 360h, and the driver is operating in interrupt
     mode at IRQ channel 5, the line in your config.sys should be:

         BASEDEV=SONY535.ADD /P:360 /I:5


 3.  Multiple Sony CD-ROM drives daisy chained to Sony CDB-240 series
     host adapter

     For example, if two Sony CD-ROM drives are daisy chained from
     the Sony host adapter with the first drive set to drive unit 0
     and the second set to drive unit 1, the line in config.sys

 This section lists the parameters which are supported for the
 SBCD2.ADD device driver.  The parameters can be changed by modifying
 the BASEDEV=SBCD2.ADD line in config.sys.


 For the SBCD2.ADD device driver, the syntax for the line in config.sys
 is as follows:

    BASEDEV=SBCD2.ADD  [/P:nnn]  [T:n] [/NS] [/V]


    [/P:nnn]

      Specifies the base I/O port address of the interface card.
      The value must be the same number as the port address selected
      by the jumper on the host interface card.


    [/T:nn]

       Sets the adapter type connected to the CD-ROM drive.

       Supported value is:
          2 = Creative Labs CD-ROM interface card (not Sound Blaster)


    [/NS]

       Disable drive select scan.  Driver will not scan for more than
       one CD-ROM drive.


 Parameter Examples

 1.  Panasonic, Creative Labs OmniCD or IBM ISA CD-ROM drive attached
     to standard Panasonic or IBM ISA CD-ROM host adapter:

     The standard Panasonic or IBM ISA host adapter supports base I/O
     port addresses of 300h, 310h, 320h or 330h.  For example, if the
     adapter is set to a base I/O port address of 300, the line in
     config.sys should be:

         BASEDEV=SBCD2.ADD /P:300


 2.  Panasonic, Creative Labs OmniCD or IBM ISA CD-ROM drive attached
     to Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro, Sound Blaster 16, or Sound
     Blaster 16 MultiCD.

     For example, if the Sound Blaster card is set for a base I/O
     address of 220h, the line in config.sys should be:

         BASEDEV=SBCD2.ADD /P:220


 3.  Creative Labs OmniCD attached to standard Creative Labs
     CD-ROM host adapter (not Sound Blaster) :

     The standard Creative Labs host adapter supports base I/O port
     addresses of 250h or 260h.  For example, if the adapter is set
     to a base I/O port address of 250, the line in config.sys should be:

    [/P:nnn]

      Specifies the base I/O port address of the interface card.

      Valid values for X are 0, 1, 2, 3.  The default is zero.

      LMS205 locates all CM250 and CM260 host adapters and assigns unit

      currently processing.


    [/m:Y]

      Indicates the number of 2500 byte CD frame buffers that should
      be allocated by the LMS205.ADD driver.

      Valid values for Y are 8,..., 26.  The default is 16.  Any value below
