EVA:How to get saved

Acts 2:37 "When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart
and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

WHAT MUST YOU DO TO GET SAVED?

The question every church tries to answer is what must you "do" to
be saved? And with all the many churches out there giving all their
varied answers it is little wonder that you are reading this help file.
I would too!

Some say you don't "do" anything, though logic dictates that if you
don't do anything, then you do something by doing nothing. In short,
your doing nothing means you must do the nothing. These churches
mis-understand the nature of God's Gift.

James 2:20-24 "You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith
without deeds is useless ? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered
righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his
faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled
that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as
righteousness, " and he was called God's friend. You see that a person
is justified by what he does and not by faith alone."

Let us just simply read VERSE :38 of ACTS CHAPTER 2 to see what you
must "do" to be saved.

Acts 2:36-38 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has
made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." When the
people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the
other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent
and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit."

FOUR THINGS MUST BE PRESENT TO BE SAVED

[1] "WHOM YOU CRUCIFIED" (understand the cost) [2] "CUT TO THE
HEART" (hurt over sin) [3] "REPENT" (change your life, now!) [4] "BE
BAPTIZED" (water baptism)

When these are there you shall receive the "GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT".

   #1 WHOM YOU CRUCIFIED

Acts 2:36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made
this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

To even be 1/2 way ready for salvation you must count the cost. You
must look at the cross of Jesus and realize what it will do to your
life.

Luke 14:27-28 "And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me
cannot be my disciple. "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will
he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough
money to complete it?"

   #2 CUT TO THE HEART

Acts 2:37 "When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart
and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

You must really be wailing over how sinful and wretched you are for
having put Jesus on the cross. You were not worthy to be died for!
Nothing good lives in you! Your heart must be "cut" and feeling the
pain of guilt.

Jeremiah 6:15 "Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they
have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will
fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them, "
says the LORD."

   #3 REPENT!

You must be overly eager to change. "Repent" means simply to turn
and go another way. You must be ready for your life to be changed
radically. In short, you must "prove" by a changed life that you belong
to Jesus.

Acts 26:20-21 "First to those in Damascus, then to those in
Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that
they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their
deeds. That is why the Jews seized me in the temple courts and tried to
kill me."

If you "prove" yourself to be Christian other false Christians will
oppose you just as they did Paul here. We are talking about some real
stuff here!

   #4 BE BAPTIZED

Acts 2:38 "Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you,
in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you
will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Responding to the salvation of Jesus means that "EVERYONE" will be
"BAPTIZED". That is how one comes to know Jesus. That is, if the "full"
message is being put forth, (Acts 5:20).

I Peter 3:18-22 "For Christ died for sins once for all, the
righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death
in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and
preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God
waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In
it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this
water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of
dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It
saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven
and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in
submission to him."

   JOY & SELLING ALL

This is a very, very basic summary of how to get yourself "saved".

Acts 8:35-38 "Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture
and told him the good news about Jesus. As they traveled along the
road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is
water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?" And he gave orders to stop the
chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and
Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of
the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him
again, but went on his way rejoicing."

You too can go "on your way rejoicing" if you will come to Jesus on
His terms!

MATTHEW 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a
field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went
and sold all he had and bought that field."
