ISS:What would you do if? by Bill Bennett

   1. Your Pastor fell into the sin of adultery with the church
secretary, admitted the act took place, but tried to shift the blame to
her?

   2. One of your Deacons/Elders was discovered to have engaged in
homosexual relationships while holding his office?

   3. Your marriage was on the rocks or on shaky ground almost
continually, and you were asked to be a Deacon/Elder?

   4. Your wife was addicted to drugs/alcohol and had a strong desire
to possess and flaunt very expensive jewelry & clothing in public?

   5. After your Pastor was discovered to have had an affair, serious
martial problems and all was made public - would you allow him to take
a leadership role in your church again?

   6. Would you allow an unrepentant adulter teach your children Sunday
School (ie. how to life for the Lord, obedience to Parents, moral
standards, etc.)?

   7. Would you want a highly controversial personality to lead and
direct your church's affairs, doctrine, and fellowships - without first
asking him to fully explain the accusations against him?

   8. Would you allow a man from a different denomination, with
contrasting doctrines to assume a leadership role in any program within
your church?

We need to ask ourselves some serious questions before we endorse
the Bakkers possible return to the helm of PTL. For some clear answers,
read 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 & 2. I believe God can forgive any sin,
but I also believe some sins disqualify people from leadership roles.
One the other hand, how could we possibly endorse a movement based on
emotionalism instead of Scripture?
