The following was written by Martin Niemoeller, A German Lutheran pastor who was arrested by the Gestopo and sent to a consentration camp in Dachau in 1938. He was freed by the Allied forces in 1945. I DIDN'T SPEAK UP "In Germany, the Nazis first came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me." Ed. Note: It can't happen here you say? Every time we allow a view to be suppressed because it is "unpopular" we lose a little more of our freedom. If YOU don't speak up when someone else's rights are being curtailed - Who will speak up for YOUR rights?????
