        Oregon Law Leaves
        Sex to the Imagination

Florence, Ore. (UPI) -- This city
may have stumbled upon the simplest
and most effective way of checking
population growth: a ban on sexual
        intercourse.
An ordinance passed by the City
Council made it illegal to engage in
sex "while in or in view of a public
        or private place."
When the council passed the ordi-
nance, its members thought they were
forbidding lovemaking in public and in
private places that could be viewed
from public places. It was not until
days after the measure was passed
that they realized it had also ruled out
        sex in private.
City officials said that they would
not e nforce the ordinance until it
        could be emended.

The space after the 'e' of 'enforce' was present in the article.
