                             Procedure

1.	Cut 34-pin ribbon cable to about 30 inches with
a pair of scissors. Be sure to cut straight.

            |_______________________|_______|
                                    | CUT |

2.	Locate 34-Pin IDC connector. Look at connector
to locate pin 1 marker. The maker will be normally
indented arrow ,square , circle, or number at one
end of the connector. Slide the 34-pin IDC connector
onto the 34-pin ribbon cable with the number one
stripe matching the number one mark on the IDC
connector. Push the cable through the connect so
that no more than 1/16 of an inch is showing on
the opposite side of the connector. Press connector
	on cable.

3.	Locate non IDC end of cable. Separate wires for a distance
of about 2 inches. Remove 1/8 of an inch of insulation
from each wire. Solder each wire to the 25 pin sub D
connector following the cable pin out guide.
OR crimp the male pins to each wire following the
cable pin out guide and than insert each pin into
the 25 pin sub D connector following the cable pin
	out guide.

4.	Address the floppy drive; DRIVE SELECT JUMPER
so that the floppy drive is the FIRST drive
	in the daisy chain.

5.	Route IDC connector end of 34 pin ribbon
	cable into floppy drive housing.
Connect keyed power cable to floppy drive.
Connect 34 pin ribbon cable (data cable) to
floppy drive making sure pin 1 of cable matches
pin 1 of floppy drive. NOTE the top pin etchings
on the floppy drive are pins 2 though 34 AND the bottom
pin etchings (under side of PC board) on the floppy
drive are pins 1 though 33.
Connect opposite end of data cable to computer.

6.	Turn on power to floppy drive.
        Insert Floppy into drive.
Drive should run for about 15 seconds
        and than shut off.
	Remove Floppy from floppy drive.
	Turn on computer.
Floppy drive should turn on, drive access light will
illuminate for a few seconds and stepper motor will
	move heads back and forth.
Insert floppy into drive and format floppy.
	Remove floppy.

7.	Turn off computer.
	Turn off floppy drive.

8.	Install Wire Ties on ribbon cable 2.50 inches
from end of 25 pin sub D connector. Install the
wire tie tight enough not to slip off cable
but not tight enough to mash cable.
Cut off the unused conductors, so they are
flush with the first wire tie or about
2.250 inches from end of 25 pin sub D connector.
Install HOOD over 25 pin sub D connector, with the
wire ties inside the HOOD (this acts as a strain
        relief for the ribbon cable).
