                        Reptile X's personal opinions

I've seen alot of people say that MK3 has unrealistic and flat
graphics compared to polygon fighters like Tekken and Toshinden.
1st of all, I don't like MK for the reason that it's got blood and guts,
that got my attention back in 1992 but I like the realistic storyline
(realistic for the fact that there's millions of things going on at the
same time and not a simple little story which isn't like real life)
and smooth, fun, gameplay.

The point I've tried to get through for a long time now is the
fact that digitizing a real person doesn't mean "flat sprites".
It helps give a real image, but the fact is, rendering a digitial image
IS possible thus making a multi-perspective fighter with it.

There are 2 points to my argument, one is graphic-wise while the
other is the overall game. Now, in graphics, with the current polygon
fighters, I see extremely slow moving and unrealistic images that moves
like they're action figures being moved by a kid's hand while digitized
graphics like WrestleMania and MK3, they move smoothly and realistically
no matter what the computer thinks of them as - flat pictures or real objects.

My second point to my argument is the overall game, MK3 may not
have the most logical storyline out there but it's fun and the control
responds extremely fast, unlike Tekken and TSD. The feel of the game is
alot more martial arts-like since in real martial arts, you move extremely
quickly to out-manuver you opponent and not slowly swinging your arm over
in a back fist just to show that you're being thought of as a real object.

I don't "hate" polygon graphics like some people seem to interpret
it, I agree 100% that games like Ridge Racer and Air Combat can't be done
better with any other way. My point against polygons is only with the current
fighters out there right now that use them.

Another few things I'd like to add is that I'm not saying polygons
make bad gameplay, I'm saying that the current polygon fighters have bad
gameplay (which is why I've seperated my argument into 2 points, control
is in the overall since that's where I compare MK3 to the current polygon
games in whole and not like the other point where I compare MK3-type
graphics to the current types of polygon graphics.)

And this isn't about sprites vs 3-D polygons like some interpreted
in my discussion on CompuServe, this is about the digitized look vs the
action fugure-like polygons that are out there. I agree that the 3-D
multi-perspective style of fighters is revolutionary, however, as the
graphics themselves, the current polygon fighters just don't look realistic.

I am hoping that Ed and John would take the time to do MK4 the way
I suggest it. I suggest that they do a multi-perpective fighter in the
same style as the current polygon games (with "Finish Him!" ofcourse) but
with rendered digital characters so that they look as realistic (and NOT
like action figures) while are thought of as objects by the computer.
Just imagine! Characters fighting in all different camera perspectives
while NOT looking like action figures! Joy! And ofcourse, hopefully keeping
the amount of control response from MK3.

That's about it for now, I hope you comment on it whether you
agree or disagree, but sorry, if you disagree and make a point, I'll have
to shoot a counteracting point right back at you! This time, It'll be longer
before I cut it off... unless my CIS bill goes through the roof! :-)
