 Subscription Info

This is for all of you readers out there who want the most current edition
before anyone else gets. Just drop me a line at my E-Mail address and include
"Subscribe C.Nyman's MK3 FAQ" in the message. That's it. It's easier for you
and easier for me. Your advantage... since it takes a couple of days for
it to be updated on the net, you can have yours as soon as I'm done updating
it (ie. if I'm done with it on Friday, you'll get it on Friday. You won't
have to wait until Monday to get it). My advantage... I won't have to answer
tons of E-Mails each day asking "Where can I get the newest edition?".

 Thanx.

 * FREE PLAY GLITCH *

Yes, the free play glitch is a reality, despite what some people are saying
about it. To perform the glitch, you must first finish the game, then watch
the character ending, then wait for the cast of characters to come up. The
first screen to come up is Kano & Kabal. THIS is the screen to do the glitch
on. When Kano & Kabal's feet touch the ground, press the start button on the
side that you want to play on. This is a great way to play all day without
spending a lot of money. One day I finished the game 21 times in a row, and
only paid for the first game. I would warn you to do this only if your arcade
 attendant isn't around.

 * NOTE: I don't know if the glitch works on every machine. I've heard that
it only works on the first batch of v2.0 chips sent out. I've received both
postive and negative results about the glitch. Try at your own risk.

 * NOTE: I've received some new info on the free play glitch. Apparently you
don't have to push both start buttons to perform the gitch, I've heard that
you can pick what side you want to play on by just pushing that side's start
button. I also have new information that the free play glitch resets the
amount of money required to play. So if your machine was $1.00 to start before
the glitch, afterwards it would reset to $.50, so I would warn those of you
that play at arcades that charge more than 2 quarters to play.

 * NOTE: It's come to my attention that Cyrax has a pretty nasty glitch. I've
been told that after you perform his helicopter fat, thrwow a net and the
opponent is supposed to reappear inside the net. You can then do an uppercut,
 combo, or pit fatality.

 (7) Techniques & Cheezer Moves

I have found that there are endless possibilities when it comes to basic
techniques, and there is also plenty of CHEEZ to go around. I have found that
these techniques work consistently against the CPU, but rarely against people.
This section is mainly for people who want to play on the MASTER LEVEL, but
are tired of getting their butts kicked.

      (a) The 14 Kombat Warriors --- when you play on the MASTER LEVEL for the
first couple of times, you may notice that it doesn't take too long before
you're shoving more quarters into the machine. After the 1st opponent on the
ML, I noticed a trend, the computer loves to RUN at you. The best, easiest,
and fastest way to go through the whole game all the way up to Motaro, is to
wait for the CPU opponent to run at you. When the fight first starts, ALWAYS
jump back. Odds are the CPU will either run at you right away, or throw a
projectile. If they run at you, hit a kick button right away to knock them
over, or if they throw something, odds are you will get hit, but that's OK.
Either way you should end up on the opposite side of the screen. Now all you
have to do is wait for them to start running, and believe me, it doesn't take
long. Once they start running at you, just keep doing roundhouse kicks over
and over. It only takes about 6 roundhouses and about 15 seconds and they're
dead. Another thing you can do when they run at you, is to run right back at
them. You can usually run at them and start a combo and kill them that way
 as well.

      (b) Motaro --- Motaro may seem almost impossible to beat on the ML, but
in fact, he's one of the easiest characters to beat. All you have to do is
jump at him, and when you land start a combo. He rarely blocks the whole
combo, so odds are you'll catch him with at least half of the hits. The
damage he takes is a lot less than everybody else, but if you use a 5,6, or 7
Hit combo on him every time, he should be taken care of rather easily.

Motaro --- for the EXTREMELY CHEEZY players, I offer these classics.
With Stryker and Cyrax, if you get the first hit on Motaro, you can go the
rest of the match without really having to fight. With Stryker, you just
keep on doing the Baton Toss (F,F,HK) over and over, because Stryker flies
right trough Motaro. Once you fly through him, he will turn around, but by
that time you can do another Baton Toss and fly through him again. With Cyrax
you just keep doing his teleport. The only hard thing about this, is that
you MUST get the first hit on Motaro, and you must have a great deal of
stamina. But I don't think that the cheezy players of the world will mind.

      (c) Shao Kahn --- Shao Kahn is also a sucker for combos, just like
Motaro. If you play as Cyrax, you just need to keep on doing his net, then
run over to Shao Kahn and uppercut him. After the uppercut, throw another
net and do the uppercut,etc... Shao Kahn has NEVER blocked one of my nets.
Sub-Zero is also very good at cheezing it up against Shao Kahn. His technique
is the same as Cyrax, it's just that you replace the net with his freeze.
Kano has unblockable combo against Shao Kahn, it's HP,HP,LP. Even if Shao
Kahn blocks the first 2 HPs, he will NEVER block the LP, which happens to be
the uppercut. After he's uppercutted, you can do a jump kick. Next, run over
to him and repeat the process over and over. This technique does NOT work,
however, when he is in a corner.

      (d) Human Opponents --- A very cheezy way do defeat somebody is to
run up to them and throw them. After running, almost everybody's throw is
unblockable. Kabal & Cyrax are my 2 personal favorites for cheezing it up
when it comes to this technique. You probably will make you opponent very
angry, but who cares? The point is to win. I personally don't care how I
win, just as long as I do. I'd rather play cheezy and win than be the
sucker who has to keep throwing 2 quarters into the machine every other
 minute.

      (e) Playing as Smoke --- for a while, I thought that Sektor was the very
strongest person on MK3. You had to do only 2 basic and simple combos to wipe
out your opponent. But Smoke goes to a new level when it comes to ass kicking.
Smoke can also dispose of an opponent with 2 4-Hit combos. Start with a round-
house kick, do his teleport, throw a spear, uppercut. Then if you can get
the same combo off again, the opponent will be dead. You can also do 8-Hits
with Smoke that are sure to impress to almost anyone. Do the above combo, but
don't end with an uppercut. Do the roundhouse, teleport, spear, then do the
following combo... HP,HP,LK,HK,LP. After doing this, there shouldn't be much
work left to do on your opponent. The invisibility is basically useless vs.
the computer, but against people, you should be able to mess people up real
bad with it. The air throw is also nice, but this time I'd say it's better
against the computer than people. When the computer jumps at you, they usually
don't kick, so you can jump right up to them and throw them. When human
opponents jump at you, they tend to kick at you. So if you try and jump up
to them to throw, odds are you're going to be booted right back down to earth.
Smoke is also very good against Shao Kahn. I believe that you can do a 8-Hit
against him, but it's a little different. Instead of starting with a round-
house, you do 2 teleports in a row, then a spear, then finish off the combo.
Smoke's combos seem to be more damaging than the other kombatants, but I
guess I don't really pay too much attention to it.

 (8) What's Next

I recently heard that the next revision v2.1 is already hitting arcades
all over the place. The new v2.1 chip is supposed to take out a lot of the
bugs (Free Play Glitch), but all the Fats, Animalities, etc... are supposed
to be unchanged. Since I don't have it yet, I really can't comment on it
too much. The new chip was supposedly released on June 5th.

I've also heard that this September MK3 will undergo a major facelift.
When MK3 launches for all the home systems, the arcade version is supposed
to go a new level when it comes to upgrades. I've heard that new chip will
have up to 6 new charcters, new stage fats, more backgrounds, more hidden
characters, etc... I'm not sure if the new characters will replace some of
the existing characters or not. I've heard that Scorpion may make it into
that chip. Perhaps playable, perhaps as a secret character. At this point,
however, it is all speculation as to what the future has in store for us.

 * NOTE: I've just gotten some pretty impressive info on the September update
that should be totally different than anything you've heard before. Apparently
this September, Midway's new upgrade will be like an entirely new game. I've
heard that they don't plan on adding or replacing a few characters, they
plan on replacing EVERYBODY. The replacements are from the previous MK and
MK2. It will be a "Champions" edition if you will. This sounds totally wicked
and to tell you the truth, I wouldn't mind seeing it happen. But like I said
earlier, we are all going to have to wait until September to see what Midway
really has in store for us.
