General Information

   What is Wolfstone?

A seven-member band from Scotland (mostly from the east coast of
Sutherland) that brings together the drive of rock-and-roll with
the melodies of Celtic music. They produce a style of Celtic rock
      that many find irresistable.

Described as "bagpipes with an attitude," the energy and vitality
that Wolfstone brings to the stage is infectious; Their audiences
are often brought to their collective feet with the opening notes
      of the first tune.

   What is new with Wolfstone?

The band's 1995 touring is finished. A list of tour dates
for 1996 will be available soon (see below) and will be updated as
frequently as the information is made available.

History

   How did Wolfstone begin?

The story of Wolfstone began in the late '80s when Duncan Chisholm
and some friends formed a professional dance band to play music
for the ceilidhs and discovered a magic in their union. The
original Wolfstone, including Struan Eaglesham on keyboards
and brother Stuart Eaglesham on guitar, subsequently welcomed
accomplished guitarist and songwriter Ivan Drever into the
fledgling group. Along the way, Wolfstone took on the trappings of
a rock sensibility and fused it with traditional songs and tunes.
Musical, cultural and age boundaries were ignored as the word on
this exciting band began making the rounds of rock clubs, concert
      halls, and festivals.

   What Wolfstone releases are there?

The following CDs should be available at most well-stocked stores.
You can also buy them directly from the fan club, which by the way
      is better for the band.

1991: Unleashed (Green Linnet - US; Iona elsewhere)
1992: The Chase (Green Linnet - US; Iona elsewhere)
1994: Year of the Dog (Green Linnet)

In addition to these three discs, the following items are
      available:

"Captured Alive" -- This concert video is available from
. the Wolfstone Fan Club.

"Burning Horizens" -- a three-song EP. It is available on a
. very limited basis in Scotland. The
... band hopes to have it for sale in North
... America soon as well.

What about "Wolfstone" and "Wolfstone II"?

These are re-issues of old recordings that don't have anything
to do with the current group. These recordings are being sold
against the band's wishes. The band gets no royalties from them.

Duncan Chisholm offers the band's word on these two:

"We disown those two albums. The band we are in does not
reflect what was going on then; a different line up with
different ideas and objectives; anyone buying those two
albums is not buying a Wolfstone recording. We would
never promote them and we certainly wouldn't sell them to
          anyone."

What Wolfstone tours have there been?

With the release of _The_Chase_ in 1992, Wolfstone's touring
schedule expanded to include Europe and North America. Highlights
included the headline spot at the Avante Festival in Portugal
where they played to over 70,000 people. Their success at the
international Tonder Festival in Denmark caused them to be the
only band ever to be invited to perform for three consecutive
years. In North America, appearances at California's Strawberry
Festival and the prestigious Telluride Festival in Colorado
brought them legions of new fans with their energetic and
electrifying live performances. On the strength of their newest
Green Linnet album, _Year_of_the_Dog_, Wolfstone embarked on
an extensive tour of North America in 1995, beginning in February
on the West Coast. Festivals appearances included The Winnipeg
Folk Festival and the Vancouver Folk Festival.

   Why so many different pipers?

For a time, the band had not settled on one piper and toured
and recorded with several. As a result, the band enjoyed the
company of a variety of top-notch session pipers while looking for
the piper that would become a permanent part of the band.

In November of 1994, Stevie Saint became a member of Wolfstone and
      the search was over.

   Who is Denise Sofranko?

Denise is the band's North American publicist and tour manager. In
addition to getting the word out about the band to print and
broadcast media, she's been working to get information about
      Wolfstone out on the net.

   Who is John Boocock?

John lives in Scotland and is the band's manager. Expect to see
announcements from him from time to time. These may range from
tour schedules to special appearances by members of the band to
items of general interest to fans.
