Cellular Digital Packet Data - CDPD
Uses existing AMPS cellular facilities to provide a data transmission
service. Considered to be an intermediate solution while waiting for the fully
digital cellular services to arrive, it has been a dissappointment due to the
lack of followthrough by cellular carriers on their earlier commitments of support.
