ACTIVE FREQUENCY
If you are programming a synthesized pager, you must select which
frequency you want your pager to operate on. The pager must have an
active frequency for it to receive any pages. You may also select
the SCAN option. This activates the pager's scan mode, making all
  programmed frequencies active.

ALERT LENGTH
This option allows you to select how long the alert will last when
an incoming page is received. This gives you the flexibility of
choosing an extremely short alert of 2 seconds or longer alerts up
to 12 seconds. You may also select to have the pager continuously
alert until the alert is manually reset by pressing one of the
  buttons on the pager.

ALERT LEVEL
In the 'On' position, the pager can alert with a 'Full' alert or a
quieter 'Muted' alert. This allows a user who wants an audible alert
to choose between a full or muted alert depending on their
  environment.

ALERT ON BAD DATA
This option selects one of two actions when the pager detects an
  error in the incoming message:

If Alert on Bad Data is 'Yes', the pager will alert, and display
an 'E' in the last position of the last screen of the message to
  indicate that an error occurred.

If Alert on Bad Data is 'No', the pager discards the entire message
  and does not alert.

CHIRP IN MEM
When the pager receives a page in the 'MEM-O-LERT' mode, a chirp
(short beep) will sound. This allows you to receive messages and
alerts in a discreet manner without full alerts.

CODING FORMAT
The Coding Format is the signalling format which is used to
communicate with the pager. There are three formats to choose
from: POCSAG 512, POCSAG 1200 and POCSAG 2400.

CODE ALERTS
Each of the pager's codes can be programmed to alert with either:

     a. Standard four source alerts ( Individual )
     b. Unique alerts
     c. Chirp
     d. Silently ( None )

The Code Alert chosen will apply to all three frequencies.

CODE TYPE
The pager's first code can be assigned as Individual or Group Call.
The pager's second code can be assigned as Individual or Group Call.
The Code Type chosen will apply to all three frequencies.

Pagers equipped with the same group call code can all receive the
same messages at the same time.

CUSTOMER REQUEST DATA INVERT
The Data Invert setting is selected automatically. Selecting 'Yes'
here will toggle the computed Data Invert setting.

DISPLAY SLOT NUMBER
When selected, this option will indicate on the service screen the
location in memory of the message you are reading.

DISPLAY TIME
This option will provide the time of day on the display when the
  pager is in standby mode.

DISPLAY TIME STAMP
With this option selected, each incoming message will be preceded or
followed ( depending on the option Service Screen First ) by a
screen that shows the time of day at which the message was received.

DISPLAY SOURCE
  When this option is selected, a source indicator ( A - H ) appears
at the end of the service screen. This tells you which phone number
was used to page you. Different phone numbers might be used to page
you on each of the different addresses of the pager. You can then
choose to separate people into different groups by giving them
different phone numbers with which to page you. You might, for
example, give your immediate family members a phone number which
would page you on address 3 and everyone else would receive a phone
number which pages you on address 1. If the source shows address 3
when you receive a page, you can be certain the page was from an
  immediate family member.

DUPLICATE MESSAGE DETECTION
When equipped with Duplicate Message Detection, incoming messages
are compared to messages already stored in memory. If a new message
is identical to a stored message and received from the same source,
it will not be entered into memory. The old message will appear as
unread and be preceded by a duplicate message screen.

NOTE: If sequential lockout is selected, Duplicate Detection will be
  forced to "YES".

DOWNLOAD PASSWORD REQUIRED
For security purposes, your pager has been assigned a password.
Activation of this password will require the password to be entered
when you are reading or programming the pager.

This option restricts reading and programming the pager to only
those who know the pager's password.

For optimum pager security, each pager should be assigned its own
unique password. This minimizes the possibility of someone tampering
with your pagers. Assigning a common password to all your pagers
should be discouraged since someone who wants to tamper with your
pagers would only have to know a single password to do so.

ENTER PAGER PASSWORD
For security purposes, this pager has been password protected. You
must enter the password correctly in order to read or program this
pager. You have up to 7 tries to enter the correct password before
the pager becomes completely disabled and will need to be repaired
by a Motorola authorized repair center.

FREQUENCY
  Non-synthesized Pager:

You must enter the frequency the pager is to operate at. Valid
  ranges are:

	 33.0000 to 36.9999 MHz
	 40.0000 to 49.9999 MHz
	 83.0000 to 87.9999 MHz
	135.0000 to 135.8500 MHz
	136.0501 to 173.9999 MHz
	278.0000 to 284.0000 MHz
	406.0000 to 420.0000 MHz
	435.0000 to 512.0000 MHz
	929.0000 to 932.0000 MHz

  Synthesized Pager:

You must enter the frequencies the pager is to operate at (up to a
maximum of three frequencies). The frequency you enter must end in
  a 0 or a 5. Valid ranges are:
152.0000 to 159.9950 MHz (must be a multiple of 5 KHz)
160.0000 to 169.0000 MHz (must be a multiple of 5 KHz)
278.0000 to 284.0000 MHz (must be a multiple of 12.5 KHz)
322.0000 to 328.6000 MHz (must be a multiple of 12.5 KHz
929.0000 to 932.0000 MHz (must be a multiple of 12.5 KHz)

NOTE: A Frequency of 000.0000 indicates an inactive frequency.

Some Frequencies in these ranges may not be synthesized. Please
refer to the Motorola BRAVO PLUS Auto-Synthesized Service Manual.

INVENTORY CONTROL NUMBER
The Inventory Control Number is an identification number which you
assign to the pager. This number is stored in the pager. Unlike the
Serial Number of the pager, this number can be changed per your
needs. It is also important to note that the data entered in this
field can be used to create the filename of the archive file for
this pager. Therefore, it is important to enter a unique Inventory
Control Number for each pager if you are saving each pager
  configuration to disk.

If you find yourself programming many of your pagers with similar or
almost identical configurations, you may want to create template
files and save them on disk. By entering a descriptive name in the
Archive Filename data area, you can save these template files with
names that are meaningful to you. When it comes time for you to
program one of those type of pagers, you can simply recall that
template file and change only those codes or options you need. At
that point you should also change the Inventory Control Number to
reflect the proper tracking number which you wish to assign to the
pager. You should then save that file as one of your archive files.

INTERNATIONAL SYMBOLS
When this option is selected, the pager's standard English prompts
will be replaced by international symbol screens.

LOCK-SCAN CHIRP
When this option is selected and the pager is in scan mode ( Active
Frequency is set to SCAN ), the pager will alert once when locking
to a new channel and once when losing the currently locked channel.

LOW BATTERY ALERT IN MEM
When this option is selected, an audible alert will occur along with
the "lo cell" message to let the user know that the battery is
  running low.

MENU ERASE ALL
This option activates the Erase All Menu in the pager which allows
the user to erase all read, unprotected messages from memory.

MESSAGE FORMATTING
When this option is selected, the pager will automatically insert
dashes when displaying certain messages. The message must be
exactly 10 numbers long, must not already contain any formatting
characters, and must not contain errors. If the option is not
selected then the terminal must format all messages.

NOTE: If Message Formatting is "Yes", Peoples Replublic of China
  will be forced to "No".

MENU SCAN SCREEN
When this option is selected and the pager is in scan mode ( Active
Frequency is set to SCAN ), the pager's main menu will display the
  scan status screen.

MEMORY CLEANUP
When this option is selected, all messages which have been read and
are also unprotected, will be deleted when the pager is turned off
even though you might have non-volatile memory.

MEMORY FULL
When the pager's memory is full, it will display 'Memory Full' on
the screen. This warns the user that an existing message may be
pushed out of memory by the next incoming message.

MENU CHANGE FREQUENCY
  Synthesized Receivers only

This option activates the Change Frequency Menu in the pager which
allows the user to change the Active Frequency.

NON-VOLATILE MEMORY
When this option is NOT selected, the pager deletes all messages
  when it is turned off.

OUT OF RANGE
When the pager is outside the coverage area of the paging system
continuously for the time selected, the 'Out-of-Range' screen is
displayed. This option allows the user to select the out of range
time limit. If the time selected is 'None', then this feature is
  disabled.

PAGER CODES
The Code of your pager is actually the address of the pager. This
address is an identifier which allows the pager to decide which
messages being transmitted are intended for it.

  For POCSAG pagers:
     - The address must be 7 digits long (valid digits are 0 - 9).
     - Code A and Code B addresses must be in the same frame.
     - A valid POCSAG address must be in one of the following ranges:
		   0000008 - 2007663
		   2007672 - 2045055
		   2045064 - 2097143

If you violate any of the restrictions, the program will notify you
of the problem. Closer inspection of the codes may indicate a
mistyped code. If this does not seem to be the problem, please
contact someone who is knowledgeable about the technical aspects of
  code assignments.

PHONE NUMBER SCREEN
Whatever is entered for this option will be displayed by the pager
upon power up. Only the following are allowed:
	   * digits 0-9
	   * a space " "
	   * a dash "-"

The phone number cannot contain any of the codes (A and B) in any
fashion, be it forwards or backwards, or separated by a space, a
dash or any non numeric character. If you wish the pager to power
up normally, then leave this field with dashes.

  Synthesized Pagers:
If there is at least one Phone Number Screen with valid data, all
Phone Number Screens which are blank are replaced by dashes.

PAGER PASSWORD
For security purposes, your pager has been equipped with a password.

For optimum pager security, each pager should be assigned its own
unique password. This minimizes the possibility of someone
tampering with your pagers. Assigning a common password to all your
pagers should be discouraged since someone who wants to tamper with
your pagers would only have to know a single password to do so.

The Pager Password is 10 characters long and may consist of any
combination of A-Z, 0-9 and space.

PEOPLES REPUBLIC of CHINA
When selected, the pager will use a special Peoples Republic of
  China message character set.

NOTE: If Message Formatting is "Yes", Peoples Replublic of China
  will be forced to "No".

PRIORITY ALERT
This field determines if each source has Priority Override or not.

When a source has Priority Override, an incoming page will always
alert audibly ( even if the pager is in the 'MEM-O-LERT' mode).
Priority Override can be selected on any of the pager's addresses.

PRIORITY SCAN
When this option is selected and the pager is in scan mode ( Active
Frequency is set to SCAN ), the pager scans the priority channel
every other channel scan. This option will reduce the worst case
  lock time by 25%.

PRODUCT PATH
This is the full path name of the directory in which the BRAVO
PLUS Auto-Synthesized Hard-Contact Programming Software files are
located. This parameter is initialized only during software
  installation.

REMINDER CHIRP IN MEM
Choosing this option causes the pager to remind you when there are
unread pages in memory. A chirp will sound every 2 minutes in the
'MEM-O-LERT' position if there are unread pages.

REMINDER CHIRP WHILE ON
Choosing this option causes the pager to remind you when there are
unread pages in memory. A chirp will sound every 2 minutes in the
'On' position if there are unread pages.

REMINDER VIB
Choosing this option causes the pager to remind you when there are
unread pages in memory. A vib will occur every 2 minutes in the
'MEM-O-LERT' position if there are unread pages.

SERIAL NUMBER
The Serial Number of the pager is an identifying number which should
never change throughout the life of the pager. This number is
normally programmed into the pager at the factory. This number
should also be located on one of the labels attached to the pager.
If this label is not available, refer to the order form for the
  appropriate serial number.

SOURCE TYPE
This field determines which type of data will be associated with
each source. The different pager source are as follows:

			   X - Not Active
			   T - Tone Only
			   N - Numeric
			   O - OTA

SERVICE SCREEN FIRST
When this option is selected, the service screen which contains the
slot number, time stamp, and source will appear before the message.
If this option is not selected, the service screen will appear after
  the message.

SEQUENTIAL LOCKOUT
For wide area coverage some systems use multiple transmitters
located throughout the coverage area. By transmitting the pager
information sequentially from one station and to the next and so on,
the likelihood that the pager will receive the information is high.
In such a system a pager may receive the same information more than
once and alert each time. By setting a sequential lockout time, the
pager will ignore duplicate transmissions within that time period
and will not alert for each transmission. Duplicate Detection will
be forced to a "YES". This feature is disabled if the time selected
  is 'None'.

SOFTWARE PASSWORD
To protect your Programming Software from unauthorized use, you may
put a password on the software. You may remove the password for
this program or you can change the password to something new. If
you leave this area blank, you will not need to enter a password to
execute this program. Be sure to save the new configuration using
  F8 before exiting.

SYNTHESIZED PAGER
When this option is selected you are programming a pager which has a
synthesized receiver. You will then have to enter the frequencies,
up to a maximum of three, for which the pager will operate.

SYSTEM ID CODE
Enter into this field a valid POCSAG Data Word. It will be used by
the pager to identify certain characteristic of the system of which
  it is presently locked.

SYSTEM LOCK TIME
Enter the length of time the pager will remain locked to a channel.

TIME BETWEEN PREAMBLE
Enter the length of time the pager will scan each channel.

TIME FORMAT
This option determines the display format of the time.
		 12 HOUR -->   2:00 PM
		 24 HOUR -->  14:00

VIBRATOR
When equipped with the VIBRA-Page option, the pager will emit a
vibration, as well as, a visual alert when it receives a message and
is in the 'MEM-O-LERT' mode. This allows users to silently receive
and be alerted to pages in complete privacy.

900 MHZ REVISION HELP
There are two different BRAVO PLUS Auto-Synthesized 900 MHz
receiver boards. Pagers using the new REVISION B version of the
receiver board will have a model number that ends in 'DA'. Otherwise,
the pager is using the old REVISION A version of the receiver board.

If you are only reprogramming the pager, read the pager, make your
changes, and then press the Program key (F4 or F5) marked as the
CURRENT SETTING. CURRENT SETTING is used to indicate which version
of the receiver the pager is currently programmed for.

If either the codeplug or the receiver board has been replaced,
you must know which type of receiver board you have in order to
program the pager correctly. REVISION B receiver boards are indicated
by Part Number NRF4121B. REVISION A receiver boards are indicated by
Part Number NRF4121A. These part numbers will be located on a white
label attached to the receiver board on the inside of the pager.

options, program a pager, save the configuration to disk or

       you to the Main menu.

  F4 - Program SINGLE pager

RETRIEVE PAGER CONFIGURATION
The Retrieve a configuration menu allows you to enter the Archive
Filename of a pager configuration which you have previously saved
to disk. The Archive Filename may be the actual inventory control
number of a pager or it may be a name of a template file used to
identify one of the common types of pagers you program. You do not
have to enter the directory. The Archive Path entered from the
Installation Menu or the Setup Menu will be used as the directory.

SAVE PAGER CONFIGURATION
The Save a pager configuration to disk screen allows you to enter
a name under which you want to save the configuration to disk. The
Archive Filename which you enter will be used to later retrieve that
pager's configuration from disk. By default, the inventory control
number of the pager is used as the Archive Filename, but the name
may be changed to any valid filename. You do not have to enter the
directory. The Archive Path entered from the Installation Menu or
the Setup Menu will be used as the directory.
