Cellular phones use special data streams to communicate with the switching
equipment of the cellular service providers. This is used to control the
mobile phone. The data is send in two directions: from the cellular tower
to the mobile phone (known as the "forward" channels) and from the phone
back to the tower (the "reverse" channels). For each of these directions,
there are two types of data channels. Some information is sent out over
