			     INSTRUCTIONS
YOU MUST USE THE SETUP PROGRAM TO INSTALL ALL THE FAILSAFE FEATURES.
IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM INSTALLING WINSAFE 95 CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY BEFORE USE.

If you reinstall this program you must remove the entry at the top of the
win.ini file {run=c:\safe.exe} first. If the line contains more than this
remove only {c:\safe.exe}. You must also delete the Winsafe directory.
It is advised that you print this file out and save it in a safe place.
Backup your files only once directly after startup; before installing
anything or accessing any programs. You may do this each time you start
Windows sucessfully to keep your backup files up to date. Restore only if
you have a problem or you installed something that you want to remove the
same day. The other functions, MSD and the edit buttons access those files
for editing.
Winsafe can only backup all your files once after each W"indows startup. If
you wish to backup a second time, you must restart your computer first.
After you restore you must restart your computer for the changes to take
effect; and before backing up again.

			HOW WINSAFE95 WORKS
WinSafe95 uses an installation program that sets up its' own directory;
backs up all your vital files and then hides them with attributes as "h r s".
So that you may not be able to see them. If you got the message Backup
Complete with no error messages then everything is working.
WinSafe95 will remove and replace the attributes from your files and the
backup files each time you backup or restore. WinSafe95 also placed
additional backup files in the "Safe" when you installed it. The Safe is a
hidden subdirectory of Winsafe.
In the Safe is a copy of the registry, Windows.ini file and your System.ini
file. These four files will never be replaced by WinSafe95.
WinSafe95 also takes a picture of your system and saves the current
information, using Snapshot. The information is stored until you restart
your computer again and replaced with a new photo. This photo will not be
replaced if you boot into Windows in Safe Mode.
To view changes made to your file click on the LOG button and when Snapshot
finishes, click VIEW LOG. You will now see all changes made since you last
 booted into Windows sucessfully.
To get into Safe Mode press the F8 key during boot up when you see the "FOR
SETUP PRESS F2".

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE IN SAFE MODE
In case of a crash, enter Windows in Safe Mode and access WinSafe95. Click on
the LOG button; when Snapshot finishes, close the window and click on VIEW
LOG. If you can try printing it out. If you are unable to print it out, write
all the information down. Then click the RESTORE button and restart your
computer.
All neccessary files will be over written with your backup. If this fixes
your problem you may continue and backup at any time. Remember, once you have
used the restore feature, WinSafe95 will not allow you to backup until you
have rebooted Windows successfully. If you still boot into Safe Mode, use the
Winsafe command. See WHAT TO DO IF YOU CAN NOT BOOT TO WINDOWS.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU CAN NOT BOOT TO WINDOWS
If you crash to a point that you can only access the C:\>, go to the Winsafe
directory and type the word Winsafe at the Winsafe directory.
Example:
C:\windows>cd\ (press enter)
C:\>cd\winsafe (press enter)
C:\WINSAFE>WINSAFE	(press enter)
This instruction file will open and be displayed. All neccessary files will
be overwritten with your backup and your Autoexec.bat and the Config.bat will
be deleted. These two files can be restored later using the restore button.
Be sure to read the HOW TO RESTORE section first. To see the photo of the
information (the changes made to your files since the last successful boot
into Windows) type the words "Edit Snapshot.txt" at the Winsafe directory.
Restart your computer and enter windows. You will need to fix the problem
that caused the crash before being able to backup or restore. All the vital
files will no longer be hidden until you backup again. This is so that you
may repair the problem. If you still can not boot to Windows, use the
Winsafe1 command at the Winsafe directory.
Example:
C:\windows>cd\ (press enter)
C:\>cd\winsafe (press enter)
C:\WINSAFE>WINSAFE1	(press enter)
This will then recopy Windows most recent version of the registry and your
Win.ini and System.ini. If at this point you are still unable to get into
Safe Mode to look for other conflicts (usually at this point it is a hardware
problem), you should then strip your computer of all unnecessary hardware
including PC cards inside the unit that are not essential to operate(ie.
modoem, scanner, sound cards,etc.). If you still cannot boot to Windows you
will have to reinstall Windows95.

			HOW TO RESTORE
Do not restore until you have repaired the problem!
After you have booted to Windows and repaired the problem, and you have
rebooted a couple of times you should then backup with WinSafe95. If you
used the Winsafe command, your problem was most likely a driver or hardware
conflict. Your Autoexec.bat and Config.sys load these drivers.
These two files load software and hardware drivers that Windows does not
need to run and all these entries have been made by the software that has
been added. In most cases, you do not need to run an Autoexec.bat or a
Config.sys.
To help find your problem replace these two files with empty files as follows:
open notepad and type the word REM on the top line and save as Autoexec.bat
in the c:\ drive; do the same for the Config.sys. Now copy one line from the
Autoexec.bat or Config.sys that is stored in the Winsafe directory into its'
corresponding empty file and reboot. Repeat this process until you can no
longer boot into Windows successfully. When you get locked out of Windows;
use the Winsafe command, reboot to Windows and fix the problem. Now you can
click restore on WinSafe95. If WinSafe95 will not allow you to restore, go
to the c:\ drive in your Explorer. Scroll down in the right window to
Safe.Exe and double click it. You will now be able to restore without
backing up again.
