Part I - Legal notice:

This software is copyrighted. You may distribute to anybody the unregistered
version of it, as long as you do not charge anything for it, except the
cost of the distribution itself. You can use the unregistered software for a
period of 30 days. After that delay, you must register if you want to continue
to use it (see Part III - Registering the software). The author does not provide
any warranties for this product. You use this product at your own risks. The
author cannot be held responsible for damages that could arise, directly or
indirectly, using this product.

Part II - Installing the software:

This software runs under Windows 95. It could possibly run under Window NT,
but I didn't try it. It won't run with Windows 3.1 or 3.11.

The installation is quite simple. Uncompress the archive in a temporary
directory. From that directory, run Setup.exe. It will automatically
install Mail Reader 95. You will have the possibility to determine in which
directory you want to install the software. After the installation, you
can remove all files from the temporary directory, unless you installed
the software in the same directory. The installation program will create
a group in the Start menu, called Mail Reader 95(unless you change it
during installation). From the group select Mail Reader 95. The program
will start. The use of the software is quite obvious, but for more details
check the online help.

If you want to remove Mail Reader 95 from your hard disk, go in the Control
Panel, select Add/Remove programs and select Mail Reader 95. However, Mail
Reader 95 creates directory used when reading mail. If these directories
exist when you uninstall, the uninstallation won't be complete. You will
have to remove the ditectories yourself.

Part III - Registering the software

To register the software, you must send a check or money order of
10 US dollars(or 14 canadian dollars). It must be US or Canadian funds.
I won't accept any other type. You must also fulfill the registration
form (REGIST.TXT). You send the money and the completed registration form
to:

Jean-Franois Demers
636 avenue du Lac
Valleyfield, Qc
J6T 1H1
Canada

After reception of your registration form, I will send you a code that
will allow you to use the current version and all next versions of
Mail Reader 95. This code can only be used by you. The code I send to
you is based on the information you give me in the registration form, so
fulfill the form correctly.

When you receive the code, go in the software and select Register from
the File menu. A dialog box will appear, asking your name and the code.
The name must appear exactly like the one you provided on the
registration form(John Doe is not the same as jOhn doE). Enter the
information and press "Ok". If you entered the information correctly,
the reminder won't appear anymore, else you will receive a message
stating that there's an error in your registration. Check to be sure
that you entered the information correctly.

Part IV - Contacting the author

I'd like to know what you like and don't like in Mail Reader 95, what
improvements you would like to see in next releases, bugs you find, etc.
Even if you don't intend to register, I'd like to hear from you, so that
I can improve my product.

If you find bugs and you are a registered user, I will fix it as soon
as possible and notice you(only if you have an internet email address)
when the fixed version is available.

Part V - Changes since version 1.1

The status bar in the main window now also shows if the message you are
reading is public or private and its position in the current
conference.

There is a new menu in the main window called "Mail". It is only
available if there is a mail packet opened. It contains commands for
"Next", "Previous", "Select conference", "Reply", and "New message".

When you write a reply or new message, a dialog box appears, asking
for informations such as names, subject. It also has a field for the
tag line. You can enter anything in this field. If you want more choice,
you can edit the file TagLines.txt.

The online help is now context sensitive. You can press F1 to have
help on the current selected item.

The configure dialog has new entries. The Working directory is where
Mail Reader 95 will store the current mail packet. If you change the
directory, you must create the new directory yourself. The Replies
directory is where Mail Reader 95 stores replies. There are no longer
multiple directories for different mail packet. If a replies file
already exists, Mail Reader 95 changes the extension of the new
replies file so that there is no conflicts.

The Use short file name option allows you to use PKZIP and PKUNZIP, and
possibly other de/archivers that do not support long file names.

The Use indexes option tells Mail Reader 95 to use the indexes that
come with the mail packet. The default is on. There should be no
reasons to change this. Anyway, if indexes do not exist, Mail Reader 95
will create them.

The Delete mail packet option tells Mail Reader 95 to delete the mail
packet when you close the file or exit Mail Reader 95.

The Confirm on deletion option is only available when Delete mail packet
is turned on. If this option is checked, then Mail Reader 95 asks for
confirmation before deleting the mail packet.
