DPC Scheduler v1.0 - README.TXT
September 1997

[=- Features -=]

This program was created as an add-on for the DirecPC Navigator Program.

*	Define individual states for on and off-hour modes, and have
	it automatically update DirecPC Navigator w/o loosing connection.

*	Ability to define whether to use terrestrial, satellite, or selective
	modes during on and off-hour's.

*	Define a safety margin, so as not to get charged for going "over" your
	allocated time plan.

*	Automated Redial - Something desperatly missing from DirecPC Navigator.

*	Automated POP E-Mail checker. This is used for those ISP's that insist
	upon hanging up on you for lack of activity! More on this later.

*	Can be run as a tray icon.

[=- System Requirements -=]

	Windows95, DirecPC Satellite Service, DirecPC Navigator.

[=- Installation -=]

1)	Extract into any directory on your hard disk.
2)	Place the POPCT.OCX file in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and run
	"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\REGSVR32 POPCT.OCX" - This registers the OCX w/
	Windows and makes it usable. If you skip this step the program
	will NOT run.
2)	Add a toolbar button in DirecPC Navigator that points to dpcsched.exe,
	and make sure to check the "Requires TurboInternet" checkbox.
3)	Run DPC Scheduler from DirecPC Navigator's Toolbar to control your
	online connection.

[=- Notes =-]

*	If you have either the on or off-hours mode set to offline, the
	program exits and will not automatically restart!. This is not
	as bad as it sounds, basically the program was designed for a
	server environment thus the connection should stay up all
	the time anyhow.

* The redial feature only works once you have established a
	connection once, then anytime thereafter it will auto-redial,
	this is obviously because DPC Scheduler is not even running
	until you connect once!

*	DPC Scheduler will force your DirecPC Navigator to be minimized.

*	[THIS IS NOT REQUIRED] About the e-mail issue. Essentially, my ISP was
    not detecting that I was only uploading when I was using the satellite,
	thus hanging up on me. So I needed a way to keep the connection alive,
	and since e-mail is better handled terrestrial, I decided this
	was the answer (and it is, it works great!), but in order for
	it to work properly you must:

	1)	Define 2 selective terrestrial port re-directs in DirecPC
		Navigators under OPTIONS:NETORK.
		a) Define port 110 as a TCP/IP (POP).
		b) Define port 25 as a TCP/IP (SMTP).
		c) Make sure you enable them both by hitting the change button!
		d) Make sure to use only modes Selective Terrestrial and Terresrial
		e) You will need to re-start DirecPC Navigator at this point, as
		   it will not update w/o completly restarting!

	2) From now on when you are in selective terrestrial or terrestrial,
		your email will ALWAYS use the modem ONLY!, thus creating that
		much needed 2 way traffic for those sticky ISP's.

	3) Email is NOT downloaded, just reported as to how much exists for
		the account.

*	I did not include any formal installation or documentation
	at this time. Based on the response I get on it's usage I
	would at that time consider any such enhancement. If the
	program currently seems hard to figure out, please let me
	know, but I beleive it should be very easy to use as is.

As always *USE AT YOUR OWN RISK*, I cannot be held resposible for
any mis-fortunes caused by DPC Scheduler, though it has been
thoroughly tested by me.

DPC Scheduler v1.0 is a SHAREWARE program and may be distributed freely.
There is no time limit and is fully functional until the end of time!
