POKER PATIENCE ------------------ Poker Patience package contains these four files: pp.exe - program file for MS Windows info.exe - says which version this package is orderfrm.txt - form to order full version readme.txt - this file The object of Poker Patience is to score as many points as possible by creating poker combinations from cards consecutively put forward by computer. The cards are placed into rectangular area with five columns and five rows. Once placed card cannot be put forward once more. The first card you can place anywhere you like, but all the next cards must touch at least by corner some card already placed. Poinst are counted in both rows and columns. You can choose from two kinds of game - normal or extended. Normal game ends after showing all the 25 cards down. Extended game consists of three parts. The first part is identical as normal game. Purpose of the second part is to perform a number of exchanges between any two cards each other to gain more points. In the third part you can exchange any two cards each other as in second part, but in addition you can use the cards appeared in the sixth column. That column isn't valued, but it can help you to gain even more points. You should perform as few steps as possible to realize the desired modification of cards layout because every exchange brings you one negative point. Maximum number of exchanges in each part of the extended game is twenty. Total score is a sum of points gained in each of three parts reduced by a total number of exchanges. The high scores table contains the best 300 scores. When equality of points occures, the shorter time decides which score is better. The time of normal game is limited at twenty minutes, the time of extended one at sixty minutes. But there is no reason to be in a hurry. Those limits are a great deal higher than time needed to complete the game. Values of each combination are as follows: Royal Flush (A,K,Q,J,10 of the same suit) 50 Straight Flush (five cards of the same suit in sequence) 30 Four of a kind (four cards of the same rank) 16 Straight (five cards in two or more suits in sequence) 12 Full house (three cards of one rank and two cards of another) 10 Three of a kind (three cards of the same rank) 6 Flush (five cards of the same suit) 5 Two pairs (two cards of one rank and two cards of another) 3 One pair (any single pair of one rank) 1 Using this game is simple. Desired type of game starts by click the main menu items "Normal game" or "Extended game". Click the part of the game board causes placing the card, that appears at the bottom in the middle part of the game window. The end of normal game becomes immediately after placing the last, 25th card. In the extended game, after placing the last card begins the second part. Exchange between two cards can be done by the clicks both the cards. The first click marks the first card. The second click the second card performs the desired exchange. If you mistake, you can remove the marking by another click the first marked card. The button "2->3->" appeared under the place where the new cards are shown, serves for finishing the second and third part of the extended game. Initial number of matches in the heaps is random and less then nineteen. Graphic design of Heaps is in a similar style as Poker Patience. Difficulty of the game has four levels.
