Welcome to the Gaps card game, a variation of the Solitare card game created for the Windows 3.0 and 3.1 286 or 386 (Standard or Enhanced) environment!! This game maybe copied freely as a shareware product. This README.1ST file will guide you through the installation of the game. There are two steps involved in installing the game: first, copy the files to your hard drive subdirectory, and second, to create the Windows 3.0 group icon. PLEASE NOTE: THE GAPS FILE "GAPSDIST" IS IN SELF-EXTRACTING COMPRESSED FORMAT---IT MUST BE UNCOMPRESSED BEFORE YOU CAN RUN THE GAME. 1. First you must create a subdirectory to store the associated game files. It is assumed that you want to install the game onto drive C of the hard drive, although you may use any drive designator available. Enter the following commands from the ROOT DIRECTORY (C:\) of your hard drive to create a directory and copy the game to that directory: MD GAPS [Enter] CD GAPS [Enter] COPY A:*.* [Enter] (or COPY B:*.* if floppy is in the B drive) Now you need to UNCOMPRESS the distribution file if you have not done so by typing in the command: GAPSDIST [Enter] Three files will be created: GAPS.EXE, GAPS.HLP, VBRUN100.DLL step 1 complete! 2. Now start windows by entering: WIN [Enter] Now, if the GAMES group is not open already, you need to open up the GAMES group by double-clicking on it. The next step is to add the GAPS game to the group by selecting "NEW" under the "FILE" menu. At the dialog box prompt, the item "Program Item" should be selected if it is not already. Now press the "OK" button. Now enter the following information into the two empty boxes. Use the TAB key to move between boxes. For the "Description" enter: GAPS For the "Command Line" enter: C:\GAPS\GAPS.EXE (Assuming C:\GAPS Directory) Now click on "OK" for hit [Enter] and the GAPS Icon should appear in the GAMES group.
