Notes on UPGRADING from a previous release of HOWITZER (0.93beta or earlier): * Howitzer handles fonts differently. This was necessary to support multiple resolutions. You can delete ROMAN10.FNT from your Howitzer directory, and replace it with FIXED5X7.FNT and FIXED7X8.FNT (supplied with 0.94beta and up). (0.90beta or earlier): * Howitzer now uses a graphics library which only runs if a VESA interface is present. Some older graphics cards don't have this support built-in, and need to have a driver loaded first. (For example, my Video 7 VRAM-II card needs to have a TSR called v7vesa.com loaded.) This driver will probably be in the same directory or disk as any other utilities that came with your video card. If you don't have a VESA driver, you can use UNIVESA, which is provided with Howitzer. It should work with all common video cards. If you can't get it to work on your card, contact me via E-mail and I'll try to connect you with a VESA driver that will work on your system. (0.83beta or earlier): * You can safely unpack the new version of Howitzer in your old Howitzer directory - nothing important will be overwritten. * The format of HOWITZER.INI has changed. It's now much more readable, but completely incompatible with older versions. You should delete your old HOWITZER.INI before running the new version of HOWITZER. * Registration datafiles from older versions of Howitzer work just fine with the new version. Make sure Howitzer and the datafile are in the same directory; this copy of Howitzer will then enable all cheat features. * Read the documentation! A _LOT_ has changed since 0.84beta. * 0.90beta will NOT expire after a certain date.
