-- BLACKBOX -- -- INTRODUCTION -- BlackBox is a "ray-tracing" game for Windows. Hidden in the rectangular grid are a number of targets, whose position can be determined by the reflection or absorbtion of rays fired in from outside. The size of the grid and the number of targets within it can be varied to suit your level of skill. -- FILES -- This distribution contains the following files: BBWIN.EXE - the Windows executable BB.HLP - the Windows help file BLACKBOX.TXT - this file -- INSTALLATION -- Un-archive these files to a directory of your choice. The executable will only search for the Windows help file in the "current" directory, so you should keep them together. -- PLAYING THE GAME -- Start the program as normal from within Windows. Shoot rays into the box by clicking on any of the outer "cells". Mark potential target positions by clicking on an interior cell with the LEFT mouse button. Remove markers by clicking on them with the RIGHT mouse button. Reveal hidden targets (and end the current game) by selecting "Show Targets" from the "Settings" menu. An extensive help file is available through the "HELP" menu option. -- SIDE-EFFECTS -- Scoring is based on the minimum number of shots you take to successfully identify all targets at a given configuration (i.e. dimensions of grid and number of targets). Scores and their related configuration are written to a file called BB.INI, which is created in your Windows directory (the one containing WIN.INI). Zero all scores by deleting this file. -- LEGAL STUFF -- This program is "shareware". It is copyrighted, but the author has given permission to all and sundry to freely distribute this program so long as this is done within the following restrictions: 1) No charge may be made for distribution of this program, except for any nominal fees charged by shareware organisations or on-line fees charged by bulletin boards or the like.
