Elves is a piece of interactive fiction (better known to most as a 'text adventure') written using David Betz's ADVSYS adventure authoring system. You will find Elves '87 to be a major improvement over the very crude Elves '86. Elves '87 has a fairly extensive vocabulary. It allows commands like 'Pick up the wrench and the box.' and allows the player to interact with the many complex characters and items within the adventure. A few of ELVES' valid commands (abbreviations in brackets) are: climb close down (d) drink drop eat examine extinguish lamp find get give northeast (ne) inventory (i) light lamp lock look (l) look at look in (l in) make open pick up place put down put in quit read remove restart restore save search shut smell take tie up (d) unlock untie west (w) ADVSYS is public domain and is available through many BBS's and computer user groups. Elves '87 was developed on an Atari ST by BOA! (Burnt Out Adventurers!). Members of BOA! can be reached by either calling BAUD BBS at (902) 434-1482 or by writing to... BOA! BOA! c/o B. MacKay c/o M.
