Before I start apologizing, let me thank the DJs and other users
I've heard from. I was amazed, but thankful, to hear from you.
When I released BPM, I didn't think it would have as wide an
audience as it has. While this version (2.5) doesn't incorporate
all the suggestions I've recieved, I hope it contains enough to
continue to be useful to you.

There is not, and probably will never be, a Windows version of
BPM. I am not a big fan of Windows, and the equipment I have (an
aging 286, 2M memory, and almost full 60M hard drive) does not
allow for extensively running Windows, much less developing for
    it.

I am not interested in building a database around BPM. I've
always used other programs to sort, print and otherwise manipulate
the records file. I don't want to compete with them. To develop
these programs would take time I don't have (I admit that BPM is a
spare-time project for me), and it seems wasteful to develop a
database manipulator specifically for the records file when there
are dozens of programs out there capable of doing the job. If you
need to do sorting, printing, rearranging, etc with the records
file, read the file called DATABASE; it contains some tips.

This will probably be the last version of BPM to be released. If
it isn't apparent by now, I developed BPM to serve my needs, and
my needs are simple. The only enhancement I'd like to make is to
let BPM get its input from an actual sound source, perhaps routed
through the serial port (suggested by a number of people, most
notably Peter Sterba). But that requires equipment I don't have,
knowledge I don't have to construct it (I'm not an EE), and trying
to buy parts, books, etc to build such a device may conflict with
other basic needs, like food or rent! So it's not very likely to
    happen.

Again, I'm sorry if I've disappointed you, but developing BPM is
not my career. It's not how I make my living and support my
family. Nor is it my desire to try to milk BPM to be a money
producer (if I did, I'd have to charge at least $8000 a copy for
it to be worth it!). With that in mind, there are simply some
things that are just not worth my while doing to the program.

    Sincerely,

    Calvin C
